The perfect blend of trashy reality show and heartwarming romance!

OMG, I couldn’t put this down! Needing money for his farm, Walker reluctantly agrees to be the bachelor on the inaugural reality show, Queer Seeks Spouse, not anticipating just how controlling and intrusive the producers and cameras will be. Contestant, Roan, just wants to make some money for his mother’s cancer treatment. At $5,000 per episode, he hopes to make it through a few weeks on the show; he doesn’t expect to actually develop feelings for Walker. I was so pleased to find I liked most of the guys in this story, especially Walker and Roan - they were totally decent people. Despite the manipulative producers (Molly was just evil) and the gloriously trashy show, the romance and storyline were fantastic. The story has a very slow burn, but the payoffs towards the end are huge and well worth the wait. John Solo is always a great audio narrator, but he excelled himself here - he alternated between wonderfully comical, vulnerable, or emotional voices as required.

Loved it all but the snakes

Loved this story and narration but please don't write about killing snakes. Yes, they were venomous cottonmouths and they made sure to mention that it was legal but you can have them removed or even sell them. It would have been way more sexy for Walker to catch the snakes to show his suitors how cool they are.

Best audiobook I’ve listened to!

This book was simply wonderful - the story was beautifully written, the characters had so much depth - but what really made it special for me was John Solo’s narration. He brought the story to life - I swear I could hear the cicadas in the background. My biggest pet peeve when listening to audiobooks is when you can’t tell who is who - not an issue here at all. Beautiful accents, tone and just amazing.

Definitely Worth the Buy!

I'll start off saying that I definitely loved this story! I'm not the type to consistently write reviews on books that I listen to, but I do leave a rating.

Although, the narration coupled with the interesting plot was definitely worth the listen. I enjoyed the fact that there were numerous characters introduced and the story even if their impact was minuscule. it was a happy ending with some realistic plot points that I thought definitely shaked up the norm of your typical romance novel.

if you're looking for a book that you can listen to again after some time away, this is something for a rainy day or a midsummer afternoon. The cowboy finds love troupe is definitely not dead, and comes alive in an interesting point of view from our author. would love to see a sequel with different contestants. Definitely a five star experience from beginning to end!

Lots of feels

Even though I found much of this love story between Walker Reed and Roan Carmichael to be really heartwarming, sweet, and sexy, I hated the game show aspects of it, with the necessary intrusions of the people in charge and some of the other contestants. That part was not merely distracting but also frustrating and aggravating. Some of the secondary characters were not even remotely likable -- think Molly and Adam -- and while I liked Ben, I didn't like the way his whole storyline was handled. I get that reality shows like this do happen in likely this very same way, but I didn't like how intrusive the reality of a television production on the relationship that blossomed between these two men. I loved how they fell in love, despite the impediments in their way. The performance was quite delightful and helped me over the hurdles presented by the parts I hated. I especially loved how he made Walker sound like Elvis Pressley. I'm not sure he meant to do that, but I found it entertaining.

Real-Life Reality Show Love Story

Reality show shenanigans and unexpected love are on offer in Indra Vaughn and Leta Blake’s witty take on a ‘The Bachelor’-esque ‘Queer Meets Spouse’ production. I don’t watch much reality TV, but I sure did enjoy this sweet and comedic take on it.

Walker, the ranch-owning bachelor, and Roan, one of the show’s suitors are only doing the show for money. Neither one is looking for love, but it finds them anyway. The spark of attraction is immediate but their story is a slow-burn. In the meantime, the authors deliver some cute rom-com hijinks, show producers manufacturing ‘drama’ and a few tear-inducing sad moments. But it all ends in a long-awaited steamy scene and a happily-ever-after.

John Solo! The voice-acting by John Solo for this book is truly one of the best performances that I’ve had the pleasure of listening to. He gets a well-deserved 5+ stars from me.

This audiobook came to me, by my request, as a free review copy. These are my voluntary opinions on it.

Highly recommended.

Enjoyable fake boyfriends story

I enjoyed this take on the fake boyfriends trope. A reality show where both main characters are initially in it for the money makes for a perfectly reasonable set up for the plot. Watching these two who initially go together like chalk and cheese on top of all the cynical, manipulative things that go on behind the scenes in a reality show was a lot of fun. John Solo is the perfect narrator for this. He was a perfect fit for the snark and humor but also captured the real emotions in a lovely way.

Funny, steamy, lovely!

I loved this book so much. It’s based on an imaginary gay dating reality show, so there’s a lot of moments of doubt if what the characters are doing is genuine or fake. Walker and Rohan’s instant connection, though, is anything but fake, everyone can see and feel that. They click immediately and the way they care for each other is beautiful!
Loved John Solo as usual!

Fun read

The reality TV angle added just the right amount of drama and tension. Loved to hate the production folks and their meddling ways, without it going too over the top (mostly). The romance was sweet and despite all the show shenanigans felt like it developed organically between the two leads. There are a few of the contestents I'd be very interested to see come back for their own seasons of the show. There is on page parental death, which kept this from being entirely a light read, but it was a fun read, with great narration.

Walker and Roan

Walker needs money and has signed up for a Reality TV show where he is to find a husband. But Walker is only in it for the money, same as most contestants. Roan needs the money for his Mum's expensive Cancer treatment, but little did either man know, they would fall in love. Truly wonderful story.

Good Story

I'm enjoyed the story and the narration. I like the main characters, however I didn't like Molly or the other producers. Molly was a bully, harassed and threatened the contestants. She and Andrew didn't care at all about the welfare of the contestants, they made me so angry. It not really reality if they keep on telling them what to do and how to act, it should be natural.

Wonderful spin on reality television

I absolutely loved this story. Walker and Roan were perfect for each other.
Both had struggles to overcome and there were some misunderstandings along the way.
The producers were a major hindrance to the blossoming relationship but thankfully they were able to fight for and obtain their HEA which was so richly deserved.
John Solo is one of my favorite narrators in the genre and has delivered a wonderful narration as usual.

A Cowboy’s romance

Reality show... a cowboy and a good son. Walter is the bachelor at a gay tv show, where Roan is a contestant. They are not looking for love though. Each have their own agenda. What they don’t know is love will find them. There is drama, hot guys, tender moments, annoying producers, a great step-mama and a romance between a cowboy and a city boy. Enjoyed it specially with John Solo’s voice like music to my ears.

Another great story by Leta Blake and Indra Vaughn. Roan and Walker where amazing characters to get to know and the journey with them was pleasurable. John Solo did a super job with the narration. If you like this story also check Vespertine by the same authors.

Loved This

Cowboy Seeks Husband by Leta Blake & Indra Vaughn.

I have listened to Leta Blake's work before and always enjoyed it, but Indra is a new to me author.
This was no exception.

Although I did squirm a little at the title for the reality show (Queer seeks Spouse) I liked seeing the inside workings of how a Reality TV show is made.
Walker is pure southern gentleman which I loved.
Roan is just Roan, a lovely young guy who is struggling to look after his Mama who is ill with cancer.
Roan applied to go on this show to get the money to pay for a new treatment for his Mama, and didn't intend to fall for the batchelor.
But the best laid plans of mice and men!
It's the story of them falling on Love
I was thinking at first Andy (The director) was okay and pretty cool. I had Molly's number straighaway.
But it was a happy ending all round as most stories are and I like that. I don't like to cry ugly tears in any story.

This was read by John Solo and he did a fantastic job with Walker's southern accent. I like listening to John Solo, he has such a mellow voice.

Not Much Reality in Reality TV.

A fantastic heartwarming and at times sad MM love story. Walker Reed was put forward to be the bachelor for a new queer reality series and Roan Carmichael is one of the competitors taking part to vie gor Walkers attention. They both have other reasons than finding a love match to do this. I laughed and cried while listening to this fantastic story brought to life by the one and only John Solo, who yet again nailed the narration.

Awesome

This one was something unlike what I have ever listened to before. The characters had some really strong heat. The steamy scenes are definitely full of heat and The chemistry was entertaining. I loved how different the concept of this story was, and I cant wait to listen to more by this author and the narrator as the narration was also top notch.

A Spectacular TV Courtship

Cowboy Seeks Husband is a delightful standalone romance that was filled with hijinks, shenanigans, tenderness, and above all: love. The plot setup was really interesting: two men desperate for money sign up for a reality dating show not expecting anything but money. Falling in love for real was not part of the script, but the connection between Walker and Roan was too strong to be confined by TV production rules. I found the reality TV portion really fascinating, especially how Walker and Roan had to be creative to escape the constrictions that have been placed on them. There was also some very emotional scenes that really touched my heart. This book has angst and sorrow, but the pain those scenes bring is soothed away by the sweet and tender romance between the two men. Absolutely loved the epilogue and wished it was longer and that there was a second or third epilogue – heck I would LOVE a sequel.

John Solo narrated this audiobook and did a fantastic job as always. John’s voice was perfect for both Walker and Roan, and he made the steamy moments even sexier. I loved the performance and could hardly stop listening. Overall, the audiobook’s narration, storyline, and production was so well done that it was a joy to listen to.
