Publisher's Summary

When a group of missionaries get caught up in bloody African civil war, London is forced to act. For the men of 40 Commando, Royal Marines, it should be a quick in and out. A nice clean operation. But what awaits them will test them like never before. And, facing overwhelming odds, this time the skill and raw courage of these legendary fighting men may not be enough....

Another brilliant book

The attention to detail and the way that the author has written this book had me looking online to find out more about it. I knew it was fiction but it was just a really complete story, how could it not be true! Masterful

A story of heroism and faith

Having just finished Long Reach I didn't think another story could match that....his wrong was I? Superb storytelling, superbly narrated, what a shame there are no more Mike Lunnon-Wood stories, I could read this mans books till the end of time.

Entertaining and solidly written.

Entertaining, old school military action story with brave Brit marines saving helpless nuns from a rogue contingent of UNITA forces who have crossed the boarder into the DRC at the tail-end of the 90 under the command of an evil, diamond-hungry psycho. The author interweaves a sentimental love story in amongst all the violence and mayhem along with the graphic details of war. Not particularly politically correct these days, I imagine. But who cares? The author seems to have done his homework. The narrator did a smashing good job, too.

Brilliant!

Gripping storyline, sometimes funny, sometimes sad. Mike really brings the characters alive and his military knowledge is second to none. Very, very well read. I'd highly recommend !

Probably the best Fictional Story I ever heard.

Loved it, truly fantastic book. Great story line with very meticulous build up in detail and excitement to the point where you can hardly turn it off. Very well narrated with good variation of voices. My only criticism, Military Voice Procedure is cool calm and collected and delivered smoothly and concisely not as robotic as in this story. Sorry, other than that 99 out of 100.

Another fantastic story from Mike lunnon- wood!

Being ex services I recognise the truths as well as the fictions in these stories but I enjoy them thoroughly. Reading is an escape and a reminder of my own years in the forces.

Action From Cover To Cover.

All action as we've come to expect from this author. Sadly this is the last of the British Military Quartet. Try his other 2 titles; Dark Rose & Somewhere Out There. Mike died before being able to add more titles to his 6 great reads.

Thrilling Story

An interesting and thrilling story read well. The excitement and action stayed with the reader until almost the end, when a more sensitive approach to a personal storyline took place. I thoroughly enjoyed Congo Blue, and will certainly buy more books written by the author.
