Wow! I now understand why so many people are singing Ronald Malfi's praises. What an amazing story teller! Aaron Decker's life turns upside down after he loses his wife, Allison tragically to a gun shooting at a shopping centre. After going through Allison's things, he stumbles upon a hotel receipt for a 2 night stay in a motel that he knew nothing about, leading him to investigate why she was there and with who. Initially Aaron thinks that his wife had been having an affair, but what Aaron realises as he digs deeper is that there were many things that she had kept from her husband, things much darker than what he initially suspected. I love this book so much. The narrator, Joe Hempel did a stellar job and portrayed Aaron flawlessly. This story made me feel so sad at times, it had me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happens next, and the ending, oh my, I wasn't expecting it at all. I'm going to be reading more by Mr Malfi, because this book certainly impressed me that he is a writer to look out for. This deserves more than a mere rating, this deserves an award! Brilliant!

My first Malfi book and I've gotta say, I'm pretty impressed. man can this guy write! the only reason that this wasn't a 5 star all round for me is that I was looking for horror and this only ever so slightly touched on the subject. that being said, great story, very well out together and the narration was too notch. highly recommended.

I’m not usually a fan of American narrators, the accent I too much and grates on me, but Joe Hempel did a fantastic job, was very pleasant to listen too and far from over acting.
