About this listen

What does it really take to create lasting sexual connections in long-term relationships?

Most couples struggle at some point to maintain their sexual connection. But a lot of the advice we are given on sex is either not very good or steeped in cultural assumptions and expectations that can end up hurting us.

In Come Together, leading sexual wellness educator, Dr Emily Nagoski, takes on one of the most misunderstood subjects of all time - good sex - and shows us that most of what we've been taught about enjoying sex is wrong.

Featuring inclusive stories and examples from a wide range of couples and individuals, you'll find out what great sex really looks like and the best way to overcome obstacles - including relationship conflicts, gendered beliefs about how sex 'should be' and body image worries.

With insight, humour and empathy, Come Together will radically transform the way you approach sex and desire, and empower you to create long-term, fulfilling sexual connections.

Critic Reviews

Every couple I see in therapy comes in with cultural myths and misperceptions about sex that get in the way of the connection they desire. Emily Nagoski gifts us with an illuminating, relatable, and often funny book that completely reframes how we think about sex in long-term relationships. Come Together is a game-changer and should be required reading for every couple who wants to reimagine what great sex can look like.
Come Together is a revelation! It gives us the permission to redefine intimacy on our terms through engaging storytelling and science. It’s time we replace shame and obligation with exploration and pleasure. A must read!
Come Together is wise and deeply comforting. Once again, Emily Nagoski is dismantling myths about sexuality and giving everyone permission to discover what is already true and love what they discover.
A generous book that will help readers unpick everything they've been told about sex, and access more pleasure in the process.
Emily Nagoski is a national treasure – helping us all understand how to finally build true, joyful, confident sex lives.
Reassuring, wise, compassionate and funny, without falling into the twee or bantery tone that riddles many sex books. She is first and foremost a teacher and it shows - the information is straightforwardly written, with clarity and structure.
This is not only an accessible, gentle-hearted guide to a still-taboo topic; it’s a fascinating exploration of how our most intimate connections cannot just endure but thrive.
The blend of science and storytelling that Nagoski’s readers expect is on full display throughout this affirming, inclusive guide, which has the potential to transform readers’ sex lives and their general well-being . . . An essential purchase.
Empowering and pragmatic . . . Nagoski’s prose is spry and inviting as she marshals research and anecdotes (many featuring nonbinary couples) to dispel notions of ‘normal’ sex, ban sexual expectations and judgements, and advocate ‘liv[ing] with confidence and joy’ in one’s body. It’s a valuable resource for anyone looking to spruce up a subpar sex life or make a good one better.
Come Together is an inclusive, good-humored, and reassuring book that offers something for every couple in a long-term relationship.

A much needed exploration to a husky important topic. My eyes were opened and I need to start my journey from old self framing towards enjoying pleasure.

The first few chapters offered plenty to hear and think about. Then the grip loosened a lot in the middle and I started to have long breaks in between the listening sessions. But then chapters 10-11 were meaningful and kept me engaged. Perhaps the lull in the middle was just topics that didn't open to me in full.

The author reads the book themselves. The voice is lively, though sometimes feels over extended. It's like they'd added some extra drama with the hopes it keeps us with them. It certainly has more than you'd have when chatting with a friend when catching up.

I'd recommend the book for anyone who's on an intimate relationship. It things are great, you probably get wonderful validation on how you approach your partner. If you have questions or concerns, you'll get some great ideas for exploring. Best of all, the cultural shame of what's good or not is left at the door with this book. Fantastic!

A lot to take in

I liked the central principle around focusing on pleasure rather than desire. However, I feel the book becomes repetitive after the first chapters with nothing else to add.

Some good tips, too repetitive
