Publisher's Summary

She fell in love with a killer, now she's one too.

The suitcase was badly rusted, and took Erika several attempts, but it yielded and sagged open as she unzipped it. Nothing could prepare her for what she would find inside....

When a battered suitcase containing the dismembered body of a young man washes up on the shore of the river Thames, Detective Erika Foster is shocked. She's worked on some terrifying cases but never seen anything like this before.

As Erika and her team set to work, she makes the link with another victim - the body of a young woman dumped in an identical suitcase two weeks ago.

Erika quickly realizes she's on the trail of a serial killer who's already made their next move. Yet just as Erika starts to make headway with the investigation, she is the victim of a brutal attack.

But nothing will stop Erika. As the body count rises, the twin daughters of her colleague Commander Marsh are abducted, and the stakes are higher than ever before. Can Erika save the lives of two innocent children before it's too late? She's running out of time and about to make a disturbing discovery...there's more than one killer.

Brilliantly gripping, Cold Blood will have you hooked from the beginning and holding your breath to the heart-stopping and shocking ending.

Another nail biter

I love this author's books. Can't say his name but I love his stories. I listen to these while I drive. Can't fall asleep through one of these.

the lead character is still smoking cigarettes.

Is this product placement? We the readers are alert to such things now. Everything else about the novel is great, the cigarette smoking scenes are irritating and harmful to public health. Also the Starbucks product scenes are annoying, particularly as they make terrible coffee. Lost a star for these reasons.

***Cold Blood***

Another gripping tale from my favourite crime writer Robert Bryndza, it's a ride into the mind of a psychopathic killer. It scared me how a person can manipulate a girl with low self esteem into becoming as ruthless as him and it's all because of love. Detective Erika Foster is determined and relentless to find these killers. Jan Cramer is becoming one of my favourite narrator she is brilliant as DIC Foster.

Gripping story!

Loved it, it was an excellent story particularly with Max and the detectives who assist Erika Foster as well as her established friends...I feel like it's a story I've read before ..Well done Mr Bryndza 😊

Needs SOME uplifting moments

I’ve listened to all the books in the series but I found the atmosphere in the one to be terribly....dreary.
Erica’s personal life is just so devoid of anything positive! When each book deals with a serial killer you need some balance - every page can’t be doom and gloom.
Erica’s relationship with a co worker promised to be the source of a lighter side in the books - but the author just fizzled it out in this one.
I would have liked Erica to be married to a successful author or chef or something with a wry sense of humour - to create a few lighter, positive moments in the storyline of each book.
That said it seems a shame that a strong female lead character has to spend SO much time pining for a man and children.
In fact NONE of the recurring characters have anything but disastrous personal relationships - with the exception of Moss. Everything literally is doom and gloom.
The narrator is excellent with accents and character voices.

Out of touch narration.

Not his best storyline, but easily forgivable. I hate to put anyone down, but the narrator for this series really does this book- specifically the main protagonist- a disservice. Erica Foster flips between knee-jerk aggressive and moany, neither of which mirrors the dialogue or context. I don't think the narrator identifies with the characters, or understands their motivation. I don't think she reherses either. It's a shame, because the characters themselves are believable and original. I'd definitly recommend the series... in paperback.
