Publisher's Summary

When Catherine Cooper settles in the Hamptons on the heels of a nasty split from her long-time husband, the luxurious coastal community seems like the perfect place to get back on track in style. But as Cat soon discovers, starting fresh on the East End can be deadly....

Cat Cooper never imagined selling off her in-demand marketing firm would mean going from the pinnacle of success to a walking hot mess. Gouged from an unexpected divorce, Cat suddenly finds herself struggling through a new career as a business-savvy life coach for the hopelessly adrift in East Hampton and contending with Heather Holland - a spiteful neighbor who will do anything to bully her out of town. But her second act may very well continue behind bars when Heather's dead body turns up next to a shattered punchbowl...and Cat's pinned as the murderer.

But given Heather's mean girl reputation, any one of the guests at her invite-only luncheon could have committed the crime before planting Cat's punchbowl next to the body. Determined not to trade designer duds for an unflattering prison jumpsuit, Cat sides with her best friend Gilley to scour chic boutiques and oceanfront mansions in search of the criminal who framed her. With a stoic detective looking to get her in cuffs, it's up to Cat to catch the real killer and land on her feet once again....

5 stars is not enough

Victoria Laurie has outdone herself. I enjoyed the Psychic Detective series but thought the dialogue corny. Coached to Death has witty dialogue and engaging characters. The mystery is intriguing with several twists and turns. I really enjoyed this book and I look forward to the next one.

I didn't expect to like this book after all I am never satisfied with jump off series but it was interesting and had a good plot and I just love the way this writer conveys things. Worth the read.

Related to Abby Cooper but stands on its' own

I am a huge fan of the Abby Cooper books so I held off on reading this to fend off a possible letdown. Didn't happen. The character of Cat Cooper, and the return of Gilly was fresh and exciting. We knew Cat from other Abby Cooper books but she comes out as a new Life Coach with strength and verve. Her relationship with Irma, her first client, was kinda cool and different from what I expected. I almost feel the supporting characters are better fleshed out early on in this book. The mystery is nicely crafted and unrolled at a pace that lets you get engaged with the characters without getting bogged down in over much detail. The narration was fabulous.

Great Job!

This was a fresh book. I love Amanda Rinconi's narration, and I'm glad she was chosen for this book. She's edgy and I have this image in my mind of what Kat Cooper would look like. I honestly did not expect to find out she was Abby Cooper's sister. I LOVE the Psychic Eye Series, as I've read EVERY SINGLE BOOK so far. I hope Laurie continues writing this series. I do feel Kat's personality could have been fleshed out just a little more. It felt (to me) like the character description was a bit superficial. I am hoping there will be more books so we can get to know Abby's sibling a little better. Miss Laurie- Please keep writing. I love your stories. I really, truly enjoy them. I like listening to them before I go to bed because my eyes get weary after teaching and working on the computer. I'm a fan of yours. Keep up the good work. Respectfully, Barb R. P.S. I hope you read this personally. :)

Loved hearing about Cat Cooper!

Fabulous entry to Cat's individual story. Now I don't think I'll get enough of those Cooper Girls. Can't wait for their next adventures.

The Characters Make the Story

I love the characters in Victoria Laurie books. Their stories are written in a way where you really care what will happen to them, no matter how improbable the story is. I also loved the narrator. She does an excellent job keeping you interested and on the edge of your seat. I think I even gasped aloud in my car at one point!

A good read.

I have a feeling there's a love triangle looming in the future, I'm not a fan of love triangles, I find them pointless and tedious, that being said the story is a good one, the culprit is a surprise. I loved Cat when she was in the Psychic Eye series, so I'm glad she got a series of her own. I hope through the series we find her finding herself even as she helps others fgind themselves. Enjoyed the characters. A good read, looking forward to reading some more 👍🏿
