About this listen

#1 Amazon Bestseller in the Science Fiction category in its home country of Singapore, and now available worldwide.

Numbers don’t lie. But people do.

Math genius Boogie Wu struggles to redeem her slandered reputation by pushing the boundaries of her mind in a Zen monastery until she unlocks the secret of an ancient mathematical conjecture.

Little does she know that her groundbreaking solution becomes the key to her former employer Magenta Corporation's most disruptive technology: a job-taking AI service in the cloud that thinks by simulating connections of the human brain.

When Boogie discovers whose brain Magenta is simulating, she must confront the ethical and spiritual consequences of a technology that doesn’t just think, but feels.

As it becomes clear that profit is only the start of Magenta’s world-resetting ambition, to prevent them tipping the world into chaos that only an enhanced digital mind can resolve, she will have to solve a new kind of equation, one whose only solution equals danger.

Set in the very near future, Cloudthinker is a propulsive new thriller that confronts big tech, memory and consciousness, and what it means to be human.

Very enjoyable and hard to put down. Andrew somehow manages to produce a thrilling, page-turner of a book while giving the reader (*listener) an education on complex topics in technology, mathematics and neuroscience and making them accessible. I also enjoyed the secondary themes of geopolitical challenges and inequality which are thought provoking and proving to be ever more prescient.

I particularly enjoyed the subtle references to classic philosophical questions. There was even a sprinkling of ancient Buddhist wisdom overlapping with a revealingly accurate description of meditative psychedelic use which was brilliantly done. I have recommended this book to many friends.

Brilliant, enjoyable and already proving to slightly terrifyingly prescient.
