I really adore this series and it’s exactly what I need in my life right now. The characters are likeable, the world is cosy (you know…except for the murders…) and Marian brings C. J’s work to life beautifully.

I devoured this boxset and can’t wait for the rest now. The stories are classic crime fictions executed well and we get to see Cleo develop her abilities in the first three books. Is she perfect and gets everything right? No. Nor should she really as this is a new endeavour. Is she getting better? Yeah - look at that growth.

I’m interested to see where it goes and am hoping she’ll continue to mature and not handle one particular tension with her uncle poorly.

These books are not dark, overly complex, or filled with tension making you fear for the characters. But that’s isn’t the point of this series. You can guess the first suspect/s won’t be correct - but the who and why are kept mysterious enough to add just the right level of intrigue and thought provocation. I like them very much.

Each book was fantastic each and everyone had a fantastic suspense twist that you don’t expect. It’s not until towards the end you actually sort of work out with them who was to blame. C.J. Archer is amazing.

it is a cosy murder mystery but the complexity of the case is taking a backseat to focus on the more romcom style. it has potential but just falls short of being a great book.
