Publisher's Summary

Christine was eating into his mind, burrowing into his unconscious. Christine, blood red, fat, and finned, was 20. Her promise lay all in her past. Greedy and big, she was Arnie's obsession, a '58 Plymouth Fury. Broken down but not finished.

There was still power in her - a frightening power that leaked like sump oil, staining and corrupting. A malign power that corroded the mind and turned ownership into possession.

Great story, well read

As a recently converted Stephen King fan 'Christine' is a story I've wanted to get into for a while and this audiobook was an awesome companion to have in my car.
Holter Graham's narration is terrific, giving distinct, expressive voices to the different characters including one particular character who changes quite significantly throughout the book.
While not an overly scary book, it's definitely creepy until the last word and it's great if, like me, you're a rather slow reader but want to get through a thoroughly entertaining story.

I probably shouldn’t review this

I don’t think it is possible for me to review a Stephen King book without gushing like a fan girl. With the exception of the bizarre abomination which was Tommyknockers, King can do no wrong for me and this classic is yet another example of all that is good in a horror story. The character’s are so realistic as to be as likeable and loathable as anyone you might meet in real life. I always love the psychological depth of the characters. Who else but King could write a book about a possessed car which is so believable that your heart beats faster when you go out to start up the Honda Jazz in the morning?

Great voice acting

A book that makes you scared for the lives for the characters you’ve gotten to know and love. Another great piece of art by the King

The power of Audiobooks

This is a brilliant book. However, I haven't read it on the page - only listened to it on Audible - so I'm not sure how much of that is the book and how much is the narrator. His intonation and character work is outstanding and his emphasis and emotion put into the written word has elevated this novel to art. Well worth a listen (if you can handle the bad language - but blame King for that).

Loved it! couldn't stop listening.

Loved it... great narrator and riveting story. I love Stephen King stories. The relatable characters and the clever one liners. Also in all of his books the way he describes thoughts, situations makes them so believable, even when you hope that there is no way they can be true... makes it so intriguing and exciting. Onto the next Stephen King audiobook.

Enjoyable story very well told

Not one of King's most complex stories but a good, solid horror tale none the less. However the excellent narration raises what would have been a reasonable book to an absolutely stellar one. By far one of the most enjoyable readings I have listened to in a while.

never gets stale

I read this book for the first time when I was about sixteen. It was my first Stephen king. I loved it. I've 're read it a few times over the years, and most of Stephen kings other books, and in my opinion it is one of his best. His earlier books had a strong continuity and commitment that I think some of his later books lacked. This is the first time I've listened to Christine as an audio book, the narrator is excellent in every way. His voice has a youth full yet wise tone, he was a perfect choice. His voices were so good especially Arnie who's voice changes, subtlety at first. I'm now much much older than sixteen and this audio book stood the test of time for me

A wonderful book brought to life

This is one of my favourite King novels and Holter Graham did not disappoint as the narrator. The character's were fully realized and just as I imagined them to be. Very impressed

Not bad... not amazing.

I’ve read a lot of King novels, and I do mean a lot. But for some reason I avoided this one for years. I think I just couldn’t grasp the idea of a killer car as interesting. King does flesh it out a bit, but still, I wasn’t far off the mark. If 10 was his best work this is around a 6.3. It’s just alright. If you’re stuck for a book it’s not a bad listen at all. The narrator was great which always helps.

Why?

Is this man incapable of writing a book without the N word. Second book of his I’ve read and he just can’t keep it out of his book it seems. Last book of his I’ll be purchasing. Returned both titles by the way.

Stephen King audiobooks are the best!

I downloaded this without knowing the story and once again Stephen King doesn’t disappoint. I love all of his audiobooks, his books are so long I find it way less intimidating to read them on Audible then to pick up the physical book.

A slow road to the finale

I used to be an avid fan of Stephen Kings. particularly of his early books. The top 4 were The Stand, a truly entertaining listen available here on Audible. The Shining (many nights spent reading this late into the night and being too frightened to turn the light out). Carrie and Christine! Christine is my second audible book from the top 4 that I have added to my library. A great audio performance by Holter Graham. I had forgotten how long the story takes to build towards the final Act. Still very enjoyable indeed.

True Klassic

A true classic from King, surprised I waited this long. The switch in narrator for the mid section is a fine device, and the switch back to Dennis is masterful leading up to the conclusion. Is this one of the best endings from King? Perhaps. I, for one, am still terrified. Narration from Holter Graham is a virtuoso performance.
