Publisher's Summary

In Choose Me, RC Boldt brings us an unforgettable, heart-wrenching coming-of age romance....

Wearing the nicest suit I own, I stand in the very back with a flask full of whiskey in my inner pocket. I put on a brave face as I watch her walk down the aisle.

Because it’s too late.

I refuse to be the bastard who makes her cry on her wedding day, but I’m dying to tell her what I’ve always known. She’s my best friend, but she doesn’t realize she owns my f--king heart and soul, too.

Each step down that aisle takes her farther away from me and brings her closer to him, forcing me to face the truth: I’ve fallen in love with someone who can’t be mine. If she’d just turn around, maybe she’d realize I love her more than he ever could.

I won’t ruin her perfect day, but my broken heart begs me to try and convince her.

Choose me.

Wow! This was just a beautiful love story.

The story was heartbreaking and sweet. Every girl should have a Hollis. This author is new to me. I added several of RC’s books to my library before I even finished this one. I’m going to start a new one as soon as I finish writing this! The narrators are also new to me. They were FANTASTIC. They both added so much depth to the characters through their excellent portrayals. The breaking of a voice in an emotional scene or the strain in the voice during other difficult scenes elevated their performances to a level that’s a notch above many of the other popular narrators. I will definitely be seeking out these narrators! Well done to all involved. This is a book that I will listen to many times. Loved it.

Childhood Friends

Oh my heart. Its been a while since I've read a romance where the characters grew up together. Hollis and Magnolia were the best of friends. I liked seeing how they were as kids and how genuine and pure their friendship was. Hollis protected her and made her feel special when everyone at school made fun of her. Even though she came from a wealthy family, she never let her mothers disdain for Hollis get in the way of their friendship. The same went for Hollis's drunk of a mother making him feel less than. They stuck by each other through it all. After a while that friendship reveals their love for one another, but life took them in different directions along their the voices of their parents in their head. No matter what I was so enthralled with Choose Me from beginning to end. Really liked David Vaughn. I could feel that poor boy in his voice. I could feel the hints of the insecurities. Samantha Summers was excellent as a very sweet and reserved Magnolia.

An amazing story of unconditional love

I loved everything about this book! From the characters interactions as youth to the progression of adulthood. As far as I’m concerned this is an epic true love story akin to “The Notebook.”

amazing!!

i absolutely loved this book. RC Boldt is a new author to me and I'm always a little weary about new authors, but this was free in audible escape so decided to give the book a try. I COULD NOT stop listening. I was sucked in from the very beginning and finished it in less than a day. This is an amazing love story with some very sexy scenes. I will definitely be reading/listening the rest of her books!!

Heartwrenching, but...

So worth it! The story was sweet! Their love was so strong and pure! I laughed, I cried, I got mad. I loved this book so much. The narrating was great! You'll notice a unique spin on the way the auther helps them tell us their story. Loved this one a lot!

Good But Not Great

So this was a first listen from this author, RC Boldt and honestly I’m not sure what to make of this (audio)book. I’ll start by saying that I didn’t find this to be the epic love story I was expecting it to be. It also looks as though I will be the minority in my overall opinion of this (audio)book. Likes: * The development of the characters from childhood up through young adulthood. **Note**adult characteristics could’ve been better developed. * It was a sweet overall story but may be better suited for Young Adults. * Would make for a good beach read Dislikes: * The huge buildup only to then reinforce what they always had anyway....friendship * The lengthy sex scene of hero losing his virginity. I think this took away from what reader was fed on Hollis’ love for Magnolia. I think it’s fine that he didn’t lose his virginity to Magnolia but it probably would’ve worked better and allowed reader to feel he did have those true love feelings for his best friend if when he did lose his virginity we weren’t told how play by play. He lost major points from me here. JMO * Both hero and heroine hardly cared or at least showed they’d hardly cared when the other was dating anyone else. I didn’t pickup on much jealousy at all again leaving reader/listener to feel as though they had more a childhood crush on one another. * The pointless bar scene of Hollis and an older gentleman discussing his relationship with Magnolia and how he needs to believe in himself before going back to her. In the end he showed up at the wedding but didn’t do anything to prevent Magnolia from marrying. He was still consumed with self doubt & chickened out in telling her how he really felt....Really?? * I am really over these heroines saving themselves to the nth degree. Girls today are anything but prude so let’s do away with the hero gets laid by anyone but the heroine saves herself just for him. Just stop it already. It’s outdated and overplayed. I don’t want to forget about our narrators Samantha Summers & David Vaughn. They both did an amazing job. They seamlessly changed voices into various characters, be it male or female, and I was able to easily differentiate between who each character was. Great job to both of you! So overall I did not find this book to be as great as many of the reviews read. It wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t epic either. I am not totally turned off by the author and would still consider reading/listening to another one of her books, should one peak my interest. Thank you for allowing me to review this (audio)book.

Soul-Stirring Coming Of Age Romance

Choose Me is a complete standalone novel told in dual pov that begins with a harrowing prologue. I absolutely love the structure and layout of the narrative. We begin with childhood friendships until adulthood with intricately weaved angst swirling through the narrative. A unforgettable poignant coming of age romance with compelling loveable characters that you are drawn to. I fell in love with Holis and Magnolia right from childhood and continued to fall deeper at every chapter. The writing style is organic & captures your mind. I absolutely love the ending, as it was perfect. Narrators Samantha Summers, David Vaughn are both new to me and definitely would listen to them again. A perfect dual naration. I absolutely loved David Vaughn's portrayl of Holis and the way he changed his tone as Holis grew older. Very talented and lovely to listen to. Samantha Summers portrayal of Magnolia was veracious. Their inflection fit the characters perfectly and these two brought profundity to the characters. These two narrators brought their A Game and knocked this naration out of the park. I absolutely loved the narration. Overall, a beautiful angsty listen with talented narators who gave the narrative and characters justice.

A Beautiful Find

This story is heartbreaking and beautiful. You follow to friends from childhood to adulthood has they navigate love and friendship. This story was told in a way that made you feel it even after it's finished. This is definitely a book I will be re-reading over and over again.
