About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
The fifth book in the heart-stopping smalltown romance series from USA Today bestselling author.
I came here seeking sanctuary, I never meant to fall for the broody single dad next door.
I've spent my life hiding in plain sight, burying my past beneath layers of carefully constructed lies. Moving to Sparrow Falls was supposed to be a fresh start. A place to lay low. But when I end up living next door to the single dad who just happens to be one of my brother’s best friends, everything changes.
Trace Colson sees too much, asks too many questions, and his protectiveness is as infuriating as it is alluring.
And when danger comes calling, it’s Trace who stands between me and the darkness.
But being close to him is its own kind of risk. Because with every heated glance and every stolen touch, Trace tempts me to open my heart, to dream of a life I’d long since given up on. The only problem? Trace has his own demons, and when they collide with mine, the fallout could destroy us both.

The prolouge was so heartbreaking for Ellie, she was just a baby and was treated horribly by her father. Ellie was fierce, protective, and layered, the way she had fought for freedom had me so obsessed with her, her past, her fears, the way she stayed in bad situations for scraps of love it hit me a little hard. and Trace? our grumpy single dad had me, laughing, blushing and swooning. his backstory was also so heartbreaking, he was too just a baby, and im so glad he had found the colsons.
Trace and Ellie's story is so special too me, their chemistry was perfection, the way ellie had melted trace's rough edges, their banter, the way they both were protective of each other. (swoon)
Ellie and Keely's relationship was perfection, their dynamic was vibey, fun, so supportived and full of such personallity
(i would love too be apart of their friendship) One of my favourite things in found family's or book series where each book follows a diffrent sibling is the group chats and the colson sibilng group chats were absolutely funny, i was cackling everytime they popped in to tease trace.
the number of times Keely interrupted Ellie and Trace? ICONIC. I was desperate for them to kiss every. single. time. Trace had me blushing more than I care to admit (Jason Clarke saying “baby”? excuse me while I melt).
And we can't forget the cameos and side characters. Anson’s growth was such a warm light. I’m obsessed with him. We also got a Holt Hartley cameo too. (i miss him) and I need Wren to show up next!! And Dex. The man has glasses?? Give me his book right now. I’m dying to learn more about him and his brothers.
The way I sobbed so hard at the epilogue. I so in love with how the book ended! The blended family Trace, Ellie, Gabriel and Leah have is so sweet.
chashing shelter was narrared by Jason Clarke and Desiree Ketchum, it was literal perfection!! jason clarke really does a good job at portraying a grump!! i felt all the emotions through their voices!!
I seriously need kye and fallon's book desperately, im literally counting down the days till october 21st.
Grumpy single dad = PERFECTION
