Publisher's Summary

A stand-alone Heartbreaker Bay novel

Meet cute...

Run for the hills - temporarily. That's Colbie Albright's plan when she flees New York for San Francisco. Wrangling her crazy family by day and writing a best-selling YA fantasy series by night has taken its toll. In short, Colbie's so over it that she's under it. She's also under the waters of a historic San Francisco fountain within an hour of arrival. Fortunately, the guy who fishes Colbie out has her looking forward to Christmas among strangers. But she's pretty sure Spencer Baldwin won't be a stranger for long.

Make merry...

Spence's commitment to hiding from the ghosts of relationships past means he doesn't have to worry about the powerful - okay, crazy hot - chemistry he's got with Colbie. Just because she can laugh at anything, especially herself...just because she's gorgeous and a great listener...just because she gets Spence immediately doesn't mean he won't be able to let Colbie go. Does it?

...and hope for a miracle.

Now the clock's ticking for Colbie and Spence: Two weeks to cut loose. Two weeks to fall hard. Two weeks to figure out how to make this Christmas last a lifetime.

A must read

Jill does it again. Loved this storyline and the characters. Colby literally "runs away" from her lift for 2 weeks to try and get her mojo back for writing. A well published author who also has a movie coming out, doesn't let anyone know who she is. When she lands in front of the fountain in a little San Francisco town-literally she's welcomed into the fold before she knows what hits her. Spence is not looking for long-term. His work has proven that he's no good at relationships. But the chemistry between the two takes flight and they figure a short fling is what they both need. Two weeks till Christmas to be happy and carefree, no feelings to enter into it. You have to read to see how that works out. As always Heartbreaker Bay series is wonderful and you can't wait for the next one.

Cute Love Story

I was just looking for something fun and light to read.....this fit the bill. It's like listening to a Hallmark movie. I feelt the narrator made it fun too. I enjoyed it!

Not the best in this series

It was difficult to rate this book. Colbie (successful writer) and Spencer (successful inventor) are both concealing their identities, as they are both tired of being known for what they have achieved, rather than who they are. This storyline gets an easy 5* for the first 20 chapters, before it all gets a bit strange.

When Colbie announces she wants to tell Spence the full truth about her life, he first assumes she is some sort of reporter, but after finding she is not, for some weird reason panics and runs out on her, joins a card game with friends and gets drunk. Even told from Spence’s POV his actions were weird and made him seem like an immature idiot. It would definitely ring all sorts of warning bells, particularly as Spence was already announced that based on one failed relationship, he was somehow unable to have any successful long term relationship. Colbie however, quickly forgives all this strange behaviour, as she also forgives him for arranging a super awkward “girls night out” as though she was some social misfit who needs help to make friends.

The nerdy/antisocial Spence of previous books has morphed into a clone of previous alpha males in this series, and an opportunity was missed to feature a character that really was nerdy and antisocial. Unfortunately this all meant the second half of this book was a disappointment, particularly the very fast and very neat conclusion to Colbie’s problems back home. I have to finish by asking if I am the only one who finds it really sleazy when other people discuss a couple having sex, or even being aware of it? It’s ok for the reader to be in the bedroom, but I do think everyone else should be kept out!
