Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Celtic Empire, by Clive and Dirk Cussler, read by Scott Brick.

The murder of a team of UN scientists while investigating mysterious deaths in El Salvador. A deadly collision in the waterways off Detroit. An attack from tomb raiders on an archaeological site along the Nile. Is there a link between these violent events? The answer may lie with the tale of an Egyptian princess forced to flee the armies of her father 3,000 years ago.

From the desert sands of Egypt to the rocky isles of Ireland to the deepwater lochs of Scotland, only Dirk Pitt can unravel the secrets of an ancient enigma that could change the very future of mankind.

Awful accents

This is the usual Cussler storyline and it has some good parts although some really good imagination is needed to believe some of the things that happen! Usually, I like Scott Brick's narration but on this occasion, his Scots accent sounds very Irish and his Australian accent sounds very bad east end of London. Otherwise ok but not really outstanding.

Having finally finished the book I am sorry to say that it is a load of rubbish and so far fetched as to be rather silly. I have enjoyed many of Cusslers books but this one is awful.

Scottish accent poor.

Good as usual BUT someone needs to teach the reader a correct Scottish accent. It really spoilt the listening when a Scottish tongue was attempted...very poorly.

Not very good at all

Wash, rinse, repeat - Clive Cussler's approach to novels. You took my money this time, but never again.

Great adventure story and brilliant narrator

Fast moving adventure story zigzagging around the globe. From environmental crime to world domination... Clive Cussler is a master of his genre. But the best is the brilliant narrator who can switch from one dialect to another and brings the story fully to life. Close your eyes and listen and you will have a movie in your head. Best audio book I had in a long time.

Typical Cuddler - Escapism beyond reality.

Worth a listen if you can ignore the lack of believabilty. but that is Cuddler through and through.

Terrible Scottish accents...

Truly awful Scottish accent from the narrator... And it's pronounced "Sinjun" not "Saint John"... Pitt fans will know who I mean...

Difficult

Struggled to finish this. Narrator's voice was not one I enjoyed. Not sure if it was his accent or just the tone
