I was looking for a light read but instead I couldn’t put this down. I am still reeling from the emotional roller coaster this book delivered.

Much deeper than I was expecting

Loved this book. The story is one all women should hear. The narrator does a fab job at the voices without it being overly performative. Devoured it in two days!

Adorable

I completely underestimated this book going in. I had chosen this one because I genuinely thought it would be a bit of chicken soup for the soul after the hard slog of a book I’d just finished. And it is soul soothing, but it’s also an excellent, compelling story. Well developed characters, deeply moving and very clever. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I would have even if I wasn’t also a proud cat lady. Really recommend.

Clever, compelling, moving

I laughed, I sobbed and reached for my 17yr old cat, my eldest and best friend in the world.
I am Mia.
I had a hard time too growing up, but animals, especially cats, saved my life.
Outwardly, I am talkative, sharing, friendly and competent. The hidden truth is that only the kindness of strangers has kept me moving through life, 62 years now, while my own relationships, marriage & friendships have let me down. Hurt me cruelly even.
Thank you for such a witty, honest look at being a cat lady and proud of it (well I am now). The narrator was amazing, I was immersed! A lovely story woven around an important kick up the a..e for me to get out and find REAL friends that can relate to MY story as Cat Lady.

What a range of emotions this book brought to me.
