Publisher's Summary

A murdered unpopular business owner. A small town with busybodies and open secrets. Can a new girl in town start a new life before a murder investigation ends it?

Tracy Adams had three things going for her in her just-above-average boring life namely:

  1. A good job
  2. A good job that she liked
  3. A good job that she liked...and that paid very well

When she lost her job and had to move back to the small town where she grew up, it seemed like her life had lost all purpose. Helping out at her aunt's floundering floral shop seemed like the perfect distraction before she decided what to do next.

When her aunt's competition, a nasty and egotistical know-it-all, is found dead, the rumor mill in Fern Grove goes into overdrive. With an important piece of evidence linking Tracy to the scene of the crime, she becomes a person of interest in the murder investigation. This leaves her feeling vulnerable and confused.

Moving back to Fern Grove was meant to be the start of a new life, but this murder mystery is fast ending what has hardly begun. Will she retain her wits and piece together the clues that will lead her to the killer?

If you want to enjoy a light-hearted listen, with an amateur female sleuth and a gripping murder mystery with a touch of romance, then you'll love Tracy Adams and all the friendly and not-so-friendly characters in Fern Grove.

No cliff-hanger, swearing, or graphic scenes!

Light cozy

Short and sweet cozy mystery. Just the thing for listening while running errands or doing chores. Nice to see that it is the first of a series. I look forward to listening to the next one.

Cute little story

Abby Reede has written a cute little cozy mystery story. The characters were well developed and believable. My only critique is the story seemed to end abruptly. Jeanette Smith gave a nice performance as she brought it all to life.

Deadly flowers

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Many people move back to their small town home town for different reasons. Yet somehow murder always follows them and they are to blame just because they are new. Jeannette really brings the book to life. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading it again.

Very short and yet extremely entertaining:)

It's my first book by Ms Reede and it's a good one:)
The book is really short, even for a cozy mystery and yet it feels like a complete long novel:) There are great red herrings on the way to the solution of the crime, the plot is fast, the investigation mostly done through dialogues; and there's quite a lot of humour thrown into the mix, too. Narration by Ms Smith is great; I liked all the voices she gave individual characters, and I found it fast enough not to speed the book up:)
If you like cozy mysteries and look for something quite short for one afternoon, don't hesitate, grab this one - it's really entertaining:)

Good cozy mystery

Small town nosiness and jealousy make for an interesting mystery.

Jeannette Smith did a good job narrating.

Short, but Enjoyable

This book was only a little over two hours long, so it was a quick listen, but it was enjoyable. Tracy wasn’t a nosy snoop, she just happened to figure out who the killer was. I love it when the main character isn’t a nosy, annoying snoop. The narrator did an excellent job. Great enunciation and great job making the voices easy to distinguish. My only real complaint is that I didn’t like the local cop that I’m sure she will probably end up in a relationship with. I’m hoping he gets more likable as the series moves on, because he was kind of mean in this book. I’m interested in listening to the next book in the series so I can find out where this relationship between Tracy and the cop is going to go. I’m crossing my fingers it turns out to be a happy place. I received this book for free at my request from Audiobook Boom in exchange for my unbiased opinion.

Cute, Charming, Cozy Mystery

This story was the first book in the Fern Grove Cozy Mystery series and it sets up the town and the inhabitants of Fern Grove beautifully. Tracy moves back to her home town in order to help her aunt with her failing flower business. While there, Tracy becomes a suspect in a murder investigation. I found this book to be a very entertaining and quick read and recommend it to others who like this genre. Jeannette Smith's narration was great and her voice was clear. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

story seems like it could be charming but narrator is horrid. read like she has a gun to her head or somewhere else to be and wants to get thru the task asap. the reason for audible is the LISTENING experience. it should relax not be jarring

A blooming mystery

This is the first book I have listened to by this author but I enjoyed it, so it won't be my last. I liked the unusual setting of being in a flower shop, very different to the normal cosy mysteries which all seem to be set in coffee shops or bakeries. The author also didn't bombard you with useless facts about flowers and concentrated on the mystery. The few facts that were included were taste full done. The mystery it's self was interesting and contained a number of suspects but it was the characters that I liked best. They were well rounded and like able. The story is short and to be honest I tend to like my stories longer but I found I enjoyed this one so much that I didn't really notice it was short and I never felt like any of the story or explanation was left out. A series to look out for in the future.
When Tracy is downsized from her job she moves back to her hometown to help her aunt's floundering business. Her aunt and uncle built the flower shop up from the ground but after his death, her aunt let things slide. Tracy has lots of plans and ideas ready to put into practice but not everybody is pleased with the idea. Namely the owner of the other florists shop in town who had been profiting from her aunt shop being run down. On the morning of the grand opening the competition is found dead and Tracy's aunt becomes the prime suspect. Can Tracy clear her aunt's name and turn her fortunes around .
I liked the narrator, she spoke clearly and gave each character there own voice in this fun light hearted cosy mystery.
