About this listen

A powerful witch. Four unlikely guardians. A curse that will create an unstoppable monster.

Enslaved for years by a powerful crime lord, Bryn has been forced to harness her elemental magic to create vile potions that have harmed countless supernaturals.

When the compound she's called home is attacked, Bryn escapes and tastes freedom for the first time in more than a decade.

But when the sins of her past race to catch up with her, she realizes a taste might be all the freedom she's destined for. Bryn's unusually strong earth magic puts a target on her back, and when she's hit with a deadly curse, her only hope comes in the form of four dangerously sexy supernaturals.

Taj, the fire-affinity witch who worked as her jailer. Poe, a panther-shifter assigned to bring in Bryn for a bounty. Silas, a daemon with a dark past. And Calder, a telekinetic and Bryn's first love.

If the five of them can't work together, the curse will claim Bryn's life and her magic. If that happens, it will spell disaster for supernaturals everywhere.

Contains mature themes.

A pleasant story, though definitely not especially captivating.

If you have any familiarity with British accents you’ll find the narration by the male narrator to be quite jarring (and fairly hilarious).

The female narrator was good, but had a childlike quality to her tone that made the spicy bits feel a bit icky. Her ‘British’ accent for Taj was different to the male narrator’s , which added to the overall impression of poor narration on his part.

If you’re bored, this book is fine. But if you’re looking for well crafted literature and excellent performances from the narrators, this will miss the mark.

Pleasant

the storyline is ok. wouldn't consider it dark. but I couldn't get past the terrible fake accents and inflections. one character allegedly has a British accent. the female narrator did quite a good job of it. The male narrator, despite having a pleasant voice, is terrible at accents. His version of a British accent sounded like an American pretending to be a Swede pretending to be South African. It was painful.

i wish I'd bought the book instead

I couldn’t get into this book because of the male voice actor’s British accent. I might buy the book on kindle and read it instead…

Unfortunately couldn’t get past the accent!

The first few chapters FMC was already being Too Stupid To Live, then the male narrator starts his "accent" which I'd rather call a terrible joke or a declaration of war. Does noone listen to even a minute of this before they publish?!? Maybe the story picks up and the girl grows a brain, but I can not stand this guy for one moment longer.

make it stop!
