Esse trattano vari temi, ma tutte sottendono al senso melanconico, nostalgico e disincantato che bene descrive il sentimento del poeta, il quale, profondamente deluso dall'esistenza terrena, non nutre più speranza vera, che possa dargli conforto, per sublimarlo come nel tempo antico, quando l'"Incanto", offerto dalla sua "Illusione", gli consentiva di accedere ai "Sogni" sì tanto graditi: quelli che ormai sono per sempre svaniti nel vortice della "Delusione" e del "Disincanto".
