As usual Psychic police detective, Victor Bayne, is doing it tough. With the help of another psychic, he relives repressed memories of “Camp Hell”, the brutal psychic training centre. He also has to work out who is betraying him to the ruthless Federal Psychic Monitoring Program and sort a gruesome ghost haunting the hospital. I enjoyed all the moving parts a lot: Victor is developing his powers, the slow reveal of his past is picking up pace, and his relationship with Jacob is being tested. Sombre but absorbing! Pugh inhabits the characters perfectly!!

Book 5 was an epic journey, stretching far longer than its predecessors, filled with a whirlwind of events. The intricate plot twists and rich character developments unfolded like a tapestry, keeping me on the edge of my seat. I feel a deep sense of satisfaction for having immersed myself in this series, and I can’t wait to dive into the next book—it promises to be just as thrilling!
