Story
The head of Scotland’s most powerful crime family is brutally murdered, his body dumped inside an ancient grave in a remote cemetery. DS Max Craigie and DC Janie Calder arrive at the scene, a small town where everyone has secrets to hide. They soon realise this murder is part of a blood feud between two Scottish families that stretches back to the 1800s. One thing’s for certain: it might be the latest killing, but it won’t be the last.

Publisher's Summary
A spate of seemingly unconnected murders in southern England prompt a high-profile task force to be formed and led by DCI Jack Hawksworth, one of the Force's new rising stars who combines modern methods with old-school instincts.
The victims appear as disparate as their style of death; the only link that Hawk and his team can pull together is that the murdered are all men of an identical age. The task force has nothing but cold cases of decades past to comb through in the hope that they might find a clue to who is behind the savagery.
A heart-stopping tale of brutal revenge with a chilling twist by a powerhouse Australian author.

Fantastic. Couldn’t put it down!
Loved this book. Perhaps her best so far (I’ve read them all). I don’t read too many psycho thrillers (they scare me!) and there were moments this story was confronting, but the characters were gripping and real and I just could stop listening. I highly recommend this book. Oh, and the narration was excellent - very easy to listen to and voice distinction was excellent.

Spine Chilling Thriller
I couldn’t put this story down; it is extremely well crafted, full of suspense and with plausible, well rounded characters.
Jerome Pride’s narration and the voicing of all the characters is brilliant.
The first chapter, rather graphic and gory, initially made me squirm, but the story did not continue in this vein.
I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a well written thriller.

Fanciful and contrived - but listenable, just...
It's as if this author, ostensibly a writer of saccharine sweet romance novels, was asked by her publisher to write a serial killer thriller to pump a few units. It's an absurdly fantastical trip into a world of smoulderingly handsome detectives, police women who look like models vying for the hand of the handsome boss, there's the mysterious killer of course, and the chunky silver haired chief. Two dimensional characters at best. Oh and don't forget the twist, there has to be a twist (one I saw coming a mile off). But one thing is for damn sure. This writer has never set foot in a police station, unless it was to pick up her wayward teenager caught with pot. On many many occasions I rolled my eyes and groaned "omfg AS IF!!!! Do some bloody research!!!" Apart from that fairly monolithic gripe, the reader does an okay job and the story, though I liken it to a pair of ten dollar shoes that only LOOK like Nike Airs, can actually walk forward if you really need them to, and who knows, you might even get to the end of the block without them falling apart... To be fair, though, it's a pity... after one has read Kolymsky Heights or Red Dragon, it's not often that other crime thrillers match up...
