Twisty Tale- Great Thriller
This was another great story from Jeffrey Deaver. It fits perfectly with the Amazon collection of Hush, regarding what cover-ups can do. A tightly woven tale about a serial killer that is not what it seems. A veteran old school reporter discovers the story is not what it seems. Author Deaver is known for his twists and this one does not disappoint. Thrilling and entertaining. The narrator JD Jackson's gravelly voice fit this story perfectly. A fantastic short read.

Real journalism has returned
*very limited spoilers* Edward Fitzu, a soon to be retired old school reporter and news columnist stumbles onto a cover-up involving an electoral party member in this short, but fast paced thriller. What started off as an innocuous second kidnapping by a serial killer dubbed the Gravedigger turns into a 'whodunit' and very realistic crime involving mistaken identity, planted evidence, murder, an attempted assault, and arson. This short story could've easily turned into a full fledge novel, but I'm glad it wasn't and that it was available for me to consume in a couple hours. Time well spent and worth the read.

Deaver Even Better Writer Than I Thought!
I am a big fan of the Memory Man series so I'm familiar with Jeffrey Deaver's writing. This Amazon Original from the Hush Collection has so much depth of thought and understanding, not only of human nature but of the connection between generations. An older, old school and ready to retire newspaper reporter forms a connection with a young online reporter/blogger and their love for writing and reporting bring them to the solution to a serial killer. Great empathy is formed between these two who spoke a completely different lingo at first. Lots of insight into old and new methods of reporting! Interesting all the way through. Narration was perfect!

Horrible Narration
Apparently this is part of a series. I missed that somehow. I have since downloaded the prior installments even though every story is a standalone. This particular one was OK. I think I just couldn’t really get into it because of the horrible narration. This is probably a MUCH better read than listen. I really was going to give it two stars, but chose not to penalize the author due to narration. I’ve read/listened to Deaver many times throughout the years. Unfortunately, I have been very underwhelmed lately with my audio choices. It did pass the time, was quick, and best of all FREE. It would be a good enough listen as a break in between novels.
