Publisher's Summary

Alexandra is pissed about her parents abandoning her. She's beyond pissed that her friends did the same. She's enraged because things are unclear about her brother's death now. So her first stop is at Jesse's house to demand answers. She wants to know why her brother was friends with the criminal crowd before he died, and she knows he holds the answers. But when she sees him, she doesn't get the answers she expected. Instead, she finds out that their chemistry never faded and soon heats up again!

Some habits die hard. Soon Jesse and Alex are back to their ways of sneaking around. He's a near-celebrity at school and she doesn't want to deal with the backlash of being his girlfriend. Alex is tired of being hurt so she's learned the lesson not to confide and lean on others. However, she can't seem to help herself when it comes to Jesse Hunt. The big question isn't if she will survive if their relationship goes public, it's if she will survive when the real truths about her family and brother come out? Or when she learns that Jesse knows more than what he's told her?

Contains mature themes.

Updated?

I wish this was updated like the book. I’m not sure why but sometimes I like to follow along while the narrator reads and it was a little hard with this B&S 1&2 because the narration hasn’t been updated like the books have. Either way, I still love this series.

Redeem itself from book 1

This audio story was wayyy better than book 1. Jesse was wonderful in this book. All Alex new friends were good but not in the beginning. There was no epilogue but you got a good understanding of the future. Ethan secret was related to the parents and I’m glad Jesse felt it wasn’t his secret to tell but it all came out in a dramatic way. Good book

Abandonment

This story is truly heartbreaking at times with the things Alex has had to endure. She discovers that through it all she can and is really loved. The narrator does a great job of bringing the characters to life.

Great two book series!

I can’t put my finger on why I often find myself re-listening to this audio duet, but I do! First time I listened I didn’t like the narration, but I sped it up to 1.5 and found it much better.
The story itself has a lure that I find difficult to describe, but nonetheless loved❤️
I hope that Tijan releases/creates a third book told from Jesse’s point of view...I find myself yearning to know what his thoughts are every-time I listen! I would download in a hot minute jesse’s perspective and I think it would complete the story for me! Maybe that’s part of me coming back over and over to the duet, trying to dissect his feelings thru his words or actions. He is a brooding, quiet bad boy with a short fuse, and the whole “still waters run deep” aura . The female lead “Alex” is an interesting character, I found myself really liking her most of the time. The only thing(s) I didn’t like were the same traits overplayed in all books in this genre, where the female lead is overly stubborn about wearing heels or makeup, and gasp! People find her gorgeous but (gasp again) she is shocked. Lmao

This book in the series was better than the first one.

I loved it! Tijan knows how to write about mean girls, troubled heroines and their men.

There needs to be another book to this series

There needs to be another book to this series. I love all the books I read from Tijan, she is a great writer. All of her books need to be made into a movie or series on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime etc. I can't put these books down.

Another great series

I loved this book and I am so happy with the ending. There were so many shockers in this one, alot of heartbreak, passion, and finally an admittance of love. I love Jesse and Alex, they fit so well together and the sex scenes are hot. I wish there would be a story for Cord, he interest me, wondering what his story is. I could not believe the secrets Alex’s parents kept and how they continued to treat her. I was so happy that Jesse stepped up and took care of Alex. I felt that Alex slowly progressed through the book, at first she was annoying, always waiting for the destruction of her and Jesse’s relationship, always running from things, but finally she began to mature and take responsibility for her stuff and decided what she wanted and went after it. I will miss these characters and hope for some other stories where we get to read about them again. I love Jillian as the narrator but still wish there had been a male narrator for Jesse.

Not the greatest Tijan book...

I enjoyed the first book and decided to give this one a try. The beginning started off strong and then it kind of lost me. The “secret” took too long to come out. I think it only made the book longer and not as appealing. It was a good ending but the middle was just too boring, I found myself skipping parts of the book to finish it.

Loved

Any additional comments?

The second and final instalment sees Alex joining Jesse at College. They start up their relationship, on the QT of course. So, new school, new friends, new enemies, but pretty much the same story. Alex's parents are still despicable, Jesse on the other hand is adorable and really comes through for Alex. I did get a little frustrated at times with her stubbornness. I also got very emotional in parts. Towards the end, when all the secrets came out, and there are a lot of secrets, everything fits into place and true love finally takes it's course. Wonderfully written, as usual. Highly recommend.
