Das Hörspiel Briefe aus der Hölle basiert auf den erstmals restaurierten Texten der Mitglieder des Sonderkommandos in Auschwitz- Birkenau, die gezwungen wurden, bei dem Massenmord in den Krematorien mitzuhelfen. Dass einige von ihnen den Drang verspürten, schriftliche Zeugnisse des Grauens zu verfassen, ist von erschütternder Menschlichkeit. Im Angesicht des fast sicheren Todes wollten sie nur eins: der Nachwelt berichten, was geschah.
