Story
Harry Dresden, Chicago's only professional wizard, is about to have a very bad day. As Winter Knight to the Queen of Air and Darkness, Harry never knows what the scheming Mab might want him to do. Usually, it's something awful. This time, it's worse than that. Deaden? What's not to love?
A number of short stories, some I had read some new to me. Loved reading the view point of Molly, Maggie and even Mouse. Molly is a favourite and. This gave a great view of her now being a fairy princess and how hard it is going to be.

that was wonderful. there were stories that made parts of the books make more sense. as much as I am addicted to James Marsters narrating Harry Dresden, it was actually good to hear other actors voice well-known characters.

Has some stories repeated from previous books
All round as good as Dresden usually is. This book has 4 stories already previously released though which did annoy me a fair bit. The three Bigfoot stories already collected in “working for Bigfoot” and the cold case story from Molly’s point of view as first time working for Mab. That aside the rest of the stories were still worth listening to imo. Although no idea how Mouse being a Foo dog... from Asia... has a Russian accent. But still was fun to hear his point of view. Enjoyed it, but as I had only just got working for Bigfoot and read it instantly before wish that had been made clear for me as I could have just bought this and not got working for Bigfoot because all of that book is in this one.

Great stories, varying the narrators was annoying
Any fan of the Dresdenverse will love these stories and it was awesome to hear the authors comments on each. One of the things I love about Dresden is how well the story world holds together and these stories fit that. One thing that I found affected my enjoyment negatively was not having James Marsters as the narrator for all the stories. I felt the other narrators did a great job but the voices in the Dresdenverse are well established and it jarred for me to hear them read by other narrators

A small number of new stories
Excellent writing as always from Jim Butcher. Also, God level narration by James Masters. My only complaint was that way too many of these stories were from other compilations and locations. Overall this was not a worthwhile purchase for me. But Butters story and the last story were exceptional. One way or another I think we all need those two accounts. And, I hunger for 'Peace Talks' now more than ever.

Short stories to tide us over till next novel
How highly you rate this book probably comes down to how many of the short stories you have already read elsewhere, for me the number was very low so I found this a great read, particularly with so many of them focusing on other characters than Harry, who do not always get the spotlight let alone being able to relate a tale from their perspective, particularly the last one with Maggie and Mouse. One crucial point to make about this book, once you have it, do not buy working for bigfoot by the same author since the stories from there are reproduced in this newer edition. As always James Marsters does a great job with this book, although for once we get to hear more than just him reading parts of it. Overall, a great listen if you haven't heard many of them before, think more carefully about it if you have though.
