Publisher's Summary

To those who matter in 1950s Hollywood, Lena Scott is the hottest rising star to hit the silver screen since Marilyn Monroe. Few know her real name is Abra. Even fewer know the price she' s paid to finally feel like she' s somebody. To Pastor Ezekiel Freeman, Abra will always be the little girl who stole his heart the night he found her, a wailing newborn abandoned under a bridge on the outskirts of Haven.

Zeke and his son, Joshua - Abra' s closest friend - watch her grow into an exotic beauty. But Zeke knows the circumstances surrounding her birth etched scars deep in her heart, scars that leave her vulnerable to a fast-talking bad boy who proclaims his love and lures her to Tinseltown. Hollywood feels like a million miles from Haven, and naive Abra quickly learns what' s expected of an ambitious girl with stars in her eyes.

But fame comes at an awful price. She has burned every bridge to get exactly what she thought she wanted. Now, all she wants is a way back home. In this riveting and highly anticipated tale of temptation, grace, and unconditional love, New York Times best-selling author Francine Rivers delivers big-canvas storytelling at its very best.

Tear jerking.

Do not be swayed by other people's review or comments about the hotel/bed scenes. The love scenes were thoughtfully written. Nothing malicious at all. Francine had done it again. I was crying towards the end. I honestly didn't want this book to end.

Beautiful

A beautiful story about identity, self worth and the love in our lives that we often miss or take for granted.
The story was well told and narrated. It delves into deep issues of the heart, and weaves through pain to redemption both in the natural and spiritual. The storyline became a little predictable in parts. However, Francine has such a way of building her characters and their journeys towards revelation, that I kept wanting to read more and more.
Francine Rivers always leaves me deep in wonder and reflection, and she challenges me in my spiritual path. She was able to skilfully do so again, and I loved it!

Bridge to Haven was an OK read

Interesting but not captivating. I just couldn't connect or even like Abra. Her character was too unbelievably weak. Something didn't sit right with this Francine book and I struggled to finish it.

Ok book

The beginning of the book was good and interesting. The last few chapters were predictable. The book closely echoed Redeeming Love which felt unorginal. Some of the scenes were also cheesy.

God is always there but we give in to the enemy.

A very good teaching of God's time in the guise of a story which comes to the forefront. Well written and well performed.

Utterly wonderful

If you liked Redeeming Love I think you will love this too. It's a story with even more twists and turns. It beautifully describes what happens when we don't feel worthy of unconditional love. How we then look for love in all the wrong places. Constantly running. Shame becomes the Devils tool, keeping us from returning home.
The good news is that we can never escape God's love and, when we finally realise that there is nothing we can do to render us unworthy of it, why would we want to? All that is required is to surrender to that love and let the healing take place. What a relief when this finally happens.
