Publisher's Summary

In the fourth Widow’s Island novella by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Kendra Elliot, the truth of a twenty-year disappearance will finally come to light.

When the town drunk ends up dead in a hit-and-run, FBI special agent Cate Wilde expects that solving the case will be cut and dried. But evidence quickly surfaces that the victim was involved with another crime. A crime that has gone cold for twenty years. A crime of personal importance to Cate.

Cate’s best friend, Samantha, went missing at fourteen, leaving behind nothing except a jacket and an island full of unanswered questions. Samantha’s disappearance has haunted Cate for more than half her life, and she might finally be able to find some closure.

But not everything is as it seems. As Cate unravels what happened on that fateful day, she’ll discover that the community of Widow’s Island is full of secrets. Betrayed by someone she thought she knew, Cate will need to piece together the truth...before someone else gets hurt.

Love the Cate and Tessa Reunion

Why it sure is good to have injured FBI Agent Kate Wilde back together with Deputy Tessa Black on Widow’s Island. Kate was recently shot and is recovering in Widow’s Island when the town drunk was killed in a hit and run accident. She can’t help but join her lifelong best friend Tessa in trying to solve this mystery. However, this accident sends them into a 20 year old cold case that they thought would never be solved.

I love anything written by Kendra Elliot and Melinda Leigh so it goes without saying that I usually end up loving all of their books. And of course this one is no exception. I think it carries a great story delivered with impeccable timing, interesting characters, and a captivating story. What more could you want out of a book, or in this case a novella? I also can’t wait to see what’s up next for Cate!!

Bred in the Bone is narrated by Christine Williams and she does a great job and made listening to the story very enjoyable!

Overall, I’m excited to continue on with the Widow’s Island Series!

An injured FBI agent returns too investigate the long ago disappearence of her friends

It is a thriller and introduces characters I expect to read more of. An interesting twist on a murder investigation by an FBI agent on leave to recover from a shooting. She has returned to the island where she grew up hoping to learn what happened to a childhood friend that disappeared at she 14.

Bred in the Bone

Yes! This one makes reading the first three in the series just...well, you will find out. A hit and run accident takes the investigation in places that lead Tessa and Cate to a discovery that has been many years in the making.

Decent

The characters are the same throughout the series a little too many times. It almost feels like you're ready the same book in the beginning of each of the books. The scene is the same. The island is the setting I get that, it is des driving the island and the characters over and over. Needs to be raised to an adult level reading.
