About this listen
The explosive true story of a gun for hire.
Hard eyes stare out of massive beards, their faces marked by the scars of battle. With these guys their webbing looks like it belongs to them, rather than it's been hung on a pair of reluctant shoulders. There's not a word been said to us, but the ante has clearly been upped. There's a dark and sinister feeling in the air. It doesn't take a genius to figure it's about to kick off.
Former SAS soldier Big Phil Campion tells it like is in this brutally honest account of his insanely dangerous life as a private military operator. From playing chicken with a suicide bomber in backstreet Kabul to taking on pirates with his bare hands, this is true-life action-packed drama at its best.

Great story by a great bloke
One of the best memoirs I’ve read in a while. Phil is fantastic and his personality coming through when he reads the book just makes it even batter.

Tales around the pub with a few beers
Short and enjoyable, hops between key entertaining stories from Phil’s time as a PMC and some related stories from his youth to early brigade years in service.
Easy to listen to and narrated as if he’s speaking to you over a beer

The Hampshire Hammer
If you love military books that are written and read by the author that involve an ordinary person doing extraordinary things, then this book is for you! Big Phil tells it as it is and it’s just like you’re sitting with him down the local having a beer, while he tells you stories of his time in boarding schools, the green army, the SAS and on the circuit as a private military contractor. Big Phil has a laidback approach, which I believe all readers will love. I’m on my second go around with this book and I tell you what, I just love big Phil’s sense of humour. Give this book a go, as I’m sure you’ll absolutely love it!

Just the best kind of British tradition...
Honour, courage, cunning, honesty & heart!!
The honesty with which Phil opens up is such a joy and privilege to hear. I have 60-70 books on my audible account, some of which I love. But I listened to Born Fearless faster than any other...
