A grounded intuitive necromancer class experience, a few crude story hooks thrown around that will hopefully pay off down the track

yep, this is an easy 5 star.

Brief summary: MC is a kid who gets outlawed magic powers. He decides to run from the law instead of giving himself up and become a necromancer.

the book doesn't have the humor of Chrysalis, the author's other well-known work, and none of the silliness either. It's a serious book and expertly written. I couldn't put it down and immediately launched into book 2 when finished.

The story was solid and immersive, the character sheets were beyond tedious, however they weren't super common so worked out well enough. The narration is acceptable, he doesn't do many voices or change tones much but he does read and pronounce clearly. Not the humorous story I was expecting after the Anthony series but it definitely pulls you in and keeps you interested!
