Publisher's Summary

Shocking evidence hits close to home for attorney Morgan Dane and PI Lance Kruger as Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh's acclaimed series continues.

Private investigator Lance Kruger was just a boy when his father vanished twenty-three years ago. Since then he's lived under the weight of that disappearance - until his father's car is finally dredged up from the bottom of Grey Lake. It should be a time for closure, except for the skeleton found in the trunk. A missing person case gone cold has become one of murder, and Lance and attorney Morgan Dane must face the deadly past that's risen to the surface.

For Lance, the investigation yields troubling questions about a man he thought he knew. But memories can play dirty tricks. For Morgan, uncovering each new lie comes with a disquieting fear that someone is out there watching, because someone is killing every witness tied to this decades-old crime. Morgan and Lance follow in the shadows of a relentless killer and walk right into the crossfire.

Bad sheriff!

Bones Don't Lie is Book 3 in the attorney Morgan Dane (and PI Lance Kruger) suspense mystery series. The novel is excellent, but I enjoyed the first two novels in the series more. Cris Dukehart narrates this series; I'm not a fan of her narration.

Narration doesn't do this book justice.

The story was great. It was interesting and fun, and I enjoyed seeing more of my favorite characters. I really like the way Morgan's family works. They're there for each other and they love each other. I was happy to see Ava and Mia given some depth, as they felt a little like afterthoughts in the first two books.

It was nice to get a break from Morgan's refusal to eat real food. I was half convinced going into this book that we'd discover she had an eating disorder. She seems to be settling into herself as a characters very nicely, and if she were someone I knew, I'd like to be friends with her.

If I had read this book myself rather than listening to it, I'd have given it five stars. Unfortunately, I found the narrator's male characters grating. Most of them sound like cartoon characters, usually whiny teenage cartoon villains. This is especially true of the sheriff, and that made it difficult for me to really immerse myself in what should have been scenes filled with tension and menace.

Again, though, I really loved the story and am very much looking forward to the next installment.

Keeps getting better...

This is a really good series. I enjoyed the first book. The second was even better. And this title - the third installment - was the best yet. When does that ever happen in a series?

Undulating

I got part of this story via print and part via audio. This was a decent story and the twist at the end something I didn’t see coming, especially after having read the previous book. On the flip side, the narrator’s attempt at changing male voices for the sheriff sounded so cartoonish I almost laughed. And if I hear the word “undulating” one more time, I’m gonna have to choke someone.

Morgan needs training

I hated the way Lance treated Morgan like a weak wallflower. She turned out to be close to one. She needs to get together with Hannah for some conditioning and training.

Great storyline and intrigue

This is the 3rd novel in the series. It’s important that you start at the beginning to fully appreciate each character. A lot of reviews talk about how irritating the male narrator and I agree for the secondary characters but it was perfect for Lance. The only ones irritating is the policemen. Can’t wait for 4th novel. Oh and don’t stop listening if you don’t like narrator because there are so many twists I never guessed the killer at all!

Good Story, Awful Narrator

Melinda Leigh writes a good book. I've read most of hers, maybe all. But this one? I couldn't finish because the narrator is so annoying. Her female voices are ok, tho nasal. Her male voices are more a cartoon. After less than 2 chapters, I had to abandon the book. Why don't authors pay more attention to their narrators? It's what there is in an audiobook!

Tedious

Long drawn out story that I found rather boring and the narrators attempt at impersonating a male voice extremely irritating and annoying. Wish I hadn’t bothered.
