Publisher's Summary

Brax is too young. Too vulnerable. Too perfect. My dominant nature craves someone to care for. Someone to command. Brax could be that guy, if the circumstances weren’t all wrong.

His brothers would kill me if I hurt him. So would my FBI partner. That doesn’t mean I can stay away. The young artist is everything I want in a partner. And when danger comes for him, I need to keep him safe. But how can I keep him forever?

I’ll never be good enough. My brothers got me off the streets, but Ry doesn’t know the truth. I’m dirty. I’ve done things I’m not proud of. Things none of my former boyfriends could see past. Why would Ry be any different?

He sees the world in black and white. I know where I stand. But he looks at me with a heat I can’t ignore. And when I’m in danger, he keeps me safe. Will he accept me when he learns the truth?

Submission Isn't Weakness

I went into this book unsure about what to think...just needed a good MM book to listen to because that's how I deal with the stress of grad school. I was very surprised. I am very sex positive but don't have a lot of exposure to dom/sub literature.

What I learned in this book is this: dominance and submission relationships are not about weakness or abuse. They don't involve releasing your identity to the other person. Neither person is any less a "man" (or "woman")...but that gets into discussions about sexism and society's view that weakness equals femininity. Both Brax and Ry are complex characters...and while one is the dom, both are resilient, strong, and powerful. This is just expressed in different ways. It is just as powerful for someone to leave an abusive relationship as it is for someone to devote themselves to fighting crime. They learn from each other and give each other room to be human. The brothers surrounding Brax was comedic but I also appreciated Aiden Bates' decision to have the brothers empower Brax in his decisions.

I love this book...really. Guillaume Dubois was fantastic at narrating. He didn't overact...his performance was relatable and easily distinguishable. Two thumbs up on this one!

Brax and Ryland

Brax and Ryland's romance was wonderfully sweet and steamy. Brax is the youngest of the brothers and Ry is the FBI partner of Hunter one of the brothers are he’s not sure how things will happen if he goes with his feelings for Brax. After Brax finally ends things with Ian, I like how Ry became the protector Brax needed. I thought these two were adorable. Guillaume Dubois is an excellent narrator, I love how he does different voices so you really feel like your there. Wish more narrators would do this.

Sweet, sexy and steamy

I love Brax and Ry! Braxton is the youngest of the brothers and he’s had a crush on Ryland for years. Ryland is an FBI agent and is Hunter’s partner in the field, he’s also had a crush on Braxton for years. I love secret crushes finally getting together swoon! When Brax needs help from Ry things definitely start to change in their relationship. Ryland is a Dom and he longs for Brax to be his Sub so he can help nurture him and give him the strength to put his past behind him. The Dom/Sub relationship between the two is beautiful and I loved watching this dynamic unfold and their love for each other blossom. The story is sweet, sexy and steamy in all the right places.

Guillaume Dubois does an incredible job as narrator. I just love his voice.

Braxton and Ryland

Body And Soul is book 3 in the Vanguard Towers series. I love this series. I love how the brothers are all there for each other and take care of one another. This book is about Braxton, the youngest brother and an artist, and Ryland, an FBI agent and Hunter's partner. Though Ryland is so much older than Brax, they've had a secret crush on one another. It isn't until Braxton's then boyfriend hurts him and he calls Ry for a ride that something changes in their relationship. I love Brax and Ryland together. They are just who the other needs. It was nice to see Brax getting the help he needed by talking to a therapist. Definitely recommend this book and series.
Narrator Guillaume Dubois does an amazing job. He's definitely one of my favorite narrators.

Sweet and quick listen

I've been enjoying this series and this one is a pretty sweet fairly quick low angst read. Some things got resolved a little to quick and easy for me but overall I enjoyed the whole premise and dynamics between all the characters. Dubois does a great job with the narration.

Vanguard Towers MM Romance Book 3

Body and Soul is the third book in the series and tells the story of artist brother Brax. You don’t have to listen to the previous books, but the characters does make an appearance. It is a very sweet gay romance full of tension as the story develops. The characters are interesting and the development over the course of the story is very good. Overall an excellent listen and can't wait to listen to additional books in the series. The narrator is excellent and has the right tone and voice for the story.

Sweet and sexy!

I have to say, Guillaume Dubois does an amazing job with the sex scenes! He does really well overall, but sex scenes are tricky, and narrators tend to get either too excited or not excited enough. Dubois gets it just right! It lifted the story from sweet to sweet and hot.
I enjoyed how Brax handled the situation at Ian's flat, and I loved how Ryland kept working towards that fine line between care and independence for Brax. Recommend!

Brax & Ryland

Awesome story! I absolutely loved watching Ryland and Brax come together and fall in love. When Brax is threatened, Ryland is just the person to keep him safe and maybe just keep him. Brax and Ryland have had feelings for one another but neither one has acted on their feelings because Ryland is Brax's brother's FBI partner and Brax isn't so sure Ryland will accept him if he finds out the truth about his past. They are perfect for one another, both in and out of the bedroom. The narrator did a great job with the story and all of the characters. I'm really looking forward to listening to the rest of this series. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audio book.

A sweet romance with two lovable guys

Brax and Ryland's romance was wonderfully sweet and steamy, despite its rocky start. Guillaume is a new narrator for me, and I really enjoyed the way he interpreted these characters. Brax was one of those characters that I couldn't help but fall in love with right away, and seeing him keep giving Ian chance after chance made me so frustrated. As upset as I was about the catalyst for Brax finally ending things with him, it did make my heart happy to see Ryland step up and be the protector Brax had been searching for all along. I didn't really understand their insistence on pursuing a physical relationship without strings attached, but the two of them were so sweet together that I knew it'd only be a matter of time before that changed. While Brax and Ryland's romance was undoubtably the main storyline of this book, I was pretty satisfied with the conclusion of Ryland's forgery case and Brax's art show. Unlike some stories that have a bunch of manufactured drama, Brax and Ryland's book was refreshingly realistic, as if I'd gotten a glimpse into the life of an actual couple living out their usual routine together.

**I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

Love these characters

The lead up to the relationship between Brax and Ry sure made my heart skip a beat of fear. Brax’s boyfriend was bad for him. Too pushy, too feeling superior, too just a complete jerk. When Ian and friends have a drinking get together and plan on passing Brax around, it’s the final step for the relationship. Ry steps in and comes to the rescue. He feels as Brax’s brother Hunter’s partner and BFF plus the difference in age, he should be hands off of Brax. They end up with an arrangement but Brax found himself wanting more with Ry. When Hunter and Ry’s job gets them hurt feelings come to the front. Before long both want more but surprisingly Ry only asks if Brax will be his boyfriend. I feel that even though this is supposed to be D/S characters, I don’t feel they quite fit. Ry has a alpha personality and Brax wants a sort of sub relationship but they seem pretty mild in the stereotype of these titles. The sex between these two is hot. One thing is I don’t feel the relationship between these two is solid. They both want it but it’s not defined. They do decide to move in together but it feels like there should be a epilogue or more to the story. I enjoyed the interaction between the brothers. I think Guillaume Dubois did a great job with the narration. Now I’m anxious for the next story which I believe is Richie’s.

Emotional and uplifting

I had eagerly been waiting for Brax's story, and then to hear it in audio, and I was not disappointed. I loved Braxton, and Ry's sweet and protective devotion. Braxton experiences tremendous growth during the story, coming to accept that he is worth just as much as his brothers, even though he isn't a first responder. The way he and Ry slowly convert their lust to love is sweet and realistic. I also just love love love the way the brothers all came to Brax's defense and were ready to hang Ian by his balls or kill him in any number of ways. I really wanted to see Ian and his friends get the punishment they deserved, but maybe that can be a side-note shared in a coming book.

Warning: There is a brief but intense scene of attempted sexual assault.

The narration is just perfect for these characters, and the emotional delivery was fantastic. The personification of Ian made me want to reach through my computer and throttle him myself. Great job!

I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

May be my favorite series by this author

I didn't think I could love a series by this author more than the Hell's Ankhor series, but this one is proving me wrong. I enjoyed this book even more than the first two and that is saying something. Here we have a take on the opposites attract trope with Brax, a young vulnerable artist and Ry the dominant, take charge FBI man. When these two fall for each other, the heat is amazing but Brax has secrets he has to learn to trust Ry enough to share and some of them were incredibly awful and traumatic for him. His confessions lead to a wonderful spin on the hurt/comfort trope as well. A third winner in this series.
I read this book before I listened to it and I was so hoping the narrator would be as good as the book. I needn't have worried, he is. Guiiiaume Dubois made these guys come alive just a great as I had imagined them to be in my reading. He captured the heat between them, the hurt Brax has been through and Ry's wonderful, comforting presence. Want more in this series and hope it continues with this narrator.

Brax 🥰

I was waiting for Brax and Ry’s story. It is totally romantic with an age gap and dom sub relationship. Brax is the artsy brother, with a jerk of a boyfriend. They both admire each other from afar. Working with one of the Vanguard Tower brothers, Ry wouldn’t dare pursue Brax. I don’t like reason Brax needed Ry’s help but that brings them together. Not only they develop a cute relationship but Brax also helps him with a case. I enjoyed the listen immensely with Mr Dubois narration as the cherry on top.

Fantastic addition

A fantastic story by Aiden Bates. Brax and Ry might be made for each other but there where first some hoops to jump thru, including but not limited to get rid of a bad boyfriend. Guillaume Dubois did a magnificent job in bring the characters to life. The series is additive and keeps you hoping they all find love. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Brill

This is another brilliant book in the series as we follow Brax who has some problems to overcome especially an abusive boyfriend. When in need he contacts Ryland who he has had a crush on for years but believes he has no chance.
I like how sweet and caring Ryland is with Brax and his caring Dom side comes out.
The narrator also does a brilliant job with bringing the characters to life.
