About this listen
From the author of the bestselling Devil's Dust MC series, M. N. Forgy and her mother give a whole new rush and spark in the bedroom.
I came to the Rush Riders Motorcycle Club to help a friend out, get them out of trouble, and before I knew it, I became a member. Fast women, drugs, whiskey, and fights were all things I expected and was ready for. A young woman walking into the club selling drugs wasn't. C was everywhere I didn't want her to be. Her naïve personality was resilient to my asshole attempts to run her off. The next thing I knew, I wanted more than to take her to my bed. We were like a match to gasoline, the combustion so powerful not even I could walk away. I wanted to dominate her, to make her mine, which would have been an amazing plan if our worlds hadn't collided, leaving me with having to choose between my club and her.
Can the rules of the Rush Riders MC bend to my will, or will the brotherhood mean nothing?
If they want a war, I'll give it to them.
Contains mature themes.
©2023 M. N. Forgy (P)2023 TantorThere are scenes in this story that read as non-consensual sexual encounters, yet they are written and framed as if they are acceptable.
That was extremely uncomfortable to listen to, and the lack of any content warnings beforehand made it worse. Readers deserve to know when a book contains themes like sexual assault so they can decide whether they want to engage with that material.
The MMCs tone toward women throughout the story also felt degrading and hostile, which made it difficult to continue listening. Unfortunately I had to listen longer than I wanted to before the platform allowed me to leave a review.
Dark romance can explore difficult themes, but those topics need to be handled with care and awareness. In this case, the way those scenes were written made the book feel deeply uncomfortable and poorly handled rather than compelling. The scene in Chapter 21 especially crossed that line for me.
Because of that, I cannot recommend it.
