She Cut My Heart Open....

I only meant to steal a car. I didn't know I was stealing a girl, too. Until the most gorgeous face I'd ever seen popped up in the rear-view mirror.

I fell hard, fast, and forever....

But she tore out my heart - left me alone and bleeding.

How can I forget her, when I have to see that damned perfect face on billboards and magazines?

It's torture.

Nine long years. I thought I moved on.

Then I saw her in the flesh....

And my heart started bleeding all over again....

Bloody Heart is the angst-ridden fourth installment in the Brutal Birthright series. It's a stand-alone second chance mafia romance, with a HEA and no cliffhanger. Contains steamy scenes.

The Lark Notes:

At long last, Dante's story! I know you guys were the most excited for this one. It's my longest book yet - epic in story, timescale, heartbreak, and angst. And epically spicy too - be warned! There's a scene with a belt that had me dragging Mr. Lark into my writing room. As an added bonus, you'll meet Raylan, who will return as the hero of Broken Vow. --Sophie

Second chance at first love

Dante Gallo, the oldest in the family and the protector, I knew I loved him from the previous books and knew his story would be amazing... but I wasn't ready for the heartbreak! My goodness this man tore through my chest, ripped my heart out and stole it forever, while I'm sitting here like ok it's yours.. just take it!

Simone Solomon was the perfect "princess stuck in a tower". I loved her sweetness and her desire to design, but I hated her sheltered life and her parent's strict rules. I understood it but I wanted more for her.

These two have an untraditional romance novel story, but it is such a realistic story, I was drawn to it. I loved the fact that I understood their feelings and felt as if I would've made the same decisions if I were in their shoes. Even though I wanted it to play out differently, I knew the fear and the worry all too well. I felt such a connection to these two characters and I loved how real they felt. Sophie is such a master at bringing characters to life and this was a fine example of that. I love the fact that we get to see Callum and Aida and I love that they are still just as wonderful as they were in their book. Getting to see their relationship progress further was the icing on the cake for me.

I felt so much emotion throughout this book, and the difficulties that Simone faced with her sister and her pregnancy, my goodness they were hard to experience with her, I felt like I was living through the heartache with her. The angst in this book is so good and kept me wanting more. I loved every second of it.

The princess and the mafia prince

I can't say that I have ever experienced a meet-cute like this before and from there the meeting just gets spicier. This is the marries second chance romance and the mafia is the most delicious way. The way my heart fell in love burst and pieced its way back together is exactly what I want in a book like this. The is series is a must-read. Every book is its own trope that fits the couple perfectly. And best of all you can start anywhere in the series and work your way back or forward.

The narration is hot, they had to be blushing.

Thrilling Romance at it's Best

I received this audiobook free for an honest review as a member of the Pink Flamingo Productions Review Team. This book was awesome. The author gives us very sophisticated stories that keep the listener/reader on the edge of their seat. Her ability to bring the listener/reader in to the story is extraordinary to where you don't want to put it down. This story starts out when Simone is only 18 years old. Turns into a forbidden romance. Then moves to the present with Dante and the secret she has. Then the mafia connection throughout. The background story that adds thrill to their lives. The narrators did an excellent job with the story, the characters and their personalities. Looking forward to more.

dark, intense

I just loved, loved loved this story. Dante Gallo is the big burly, strong arm of the Gallo mafia family. He steals a car, just to find out that Simone Solomon is in the back seat.
Simone, 18, is a daughter of a diplomat. Dante may be big and brawny, he is perceived to be rough, but he is so gentle when it comes to Simone. He was enthralled by her beauty, softness, and innocence
When she had news to tell him, she saw that the mafia lifestyle was not for her.
Her decision left them both, heart broken, sad and torn.
This story is emotional, action-packed, sexy, thrilling. It is full of secrets , lies , revenge and an assassination attempt. This is exciting and had me on the edge of my seat.
Alan Carlson and Josie Kunz narration is so good. Both are very talented. They portrayed the characters at their strongest, weakest and most vulnerable moments. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this story..

Bloody Heart

Once I realized that this was Dante's book, it would take me for a spin. Through this series so far we have only gotten little glimpses of Dante. He is the oldest child of the Italian Mafia. He is the protector. This book let's us meet Dante when he was young and still wild. I loved seeing Dante passionate and possessive over his first and only love. This is an amazing second chance romance. I hope we get Reowna story next! Josie and Alan did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life!

Love Dante and Simone

Title: Bloody Heart
Author: Sophie Lark
Format: Audio
Narrators: Josie Kunz, Alan Carlson
Genre: Dark Romance, second-chance, mafia, military, secret relationship
Standalone: Yes
Part of a Series: Brutal Birthright #4
POV: Simone and Dante
Steam Level: Some toasty part
5/5

Bloody Heart starts approximately ten years prior to the previous books Brutal Birthright series, showing how Simone and Dante met, fell in love and fell apart. Action-packed from almost the start, Bloody Heart goes to unexpected places and with devastating secrets. I liked how Simone grew to be more independent and out-spoken and I love seeing Dante's softer side. I wanted more of Dante and Simone, despite their story being finished.

I received this audiobook for free from Pink Flamingo Productions and Audiobook Obsession. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Loved This Second Chance Mafia Romance!!!

Bloody Heart is book four in the Brutal Birthright series and is a second chance romance. It tells the story of Dante Gallo, an intimidating mafia man who has been known to get his hands dirty a time or two, and Simone, the daughter of a diplomat who has lived all over the world and whose parents have big plans for her future. While Dante and Simone appear to be polar opposites, their chemistry was off the charts and their relationship grew quickly from the start. It was clear throughout the story how much they both loved each other.

Both Alan Carlson and Josie Kunz did a remarkable job with the narration of this story and I found myself not wanting to put it down. Both evoked a great deal of emotion throughout the story with their voices and tone and both were very pleasant to listen to. I was hooked to the story line from the beginning. I do think there were some things that could have been wrapped up or parts of the story that could have been elaborated on a little further, especially towards the end of the book in relation to Simone's family, but otherwise the book was highly engaging and I would definitely recommend it. #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlock

heartbreaking

Sophie Lark has written another five star read/listen! I just love second chance romances. It's so hard to choose a favorite in this series. My heart broke for Simone. Her parents influence on her life infuriated me! My heart went out to Dante. I loved their story of finding themselves and forgiveness. So beautiful.

Alan Carlson and Josie Kunz were good narrators. They helped to bring the book to life and are easy to listen to for longer periods of time.

Hanging with the Gallos

I received this audiobook via a promo code at my request from The Flock & Audiobook Obsession and this is my voluntary review.

I have so much love for this series. Book 4 and the writing just keeps getting better (Kudos to Sophie Lark!)

Dante Gallo has long been one of my favorite characters in this series and the romance he has with Simone has some of my favorite elements, first loves, Mafia, second chance romance AND High Stakes Action mixed with secret baby drama. It was like chocolate sprinkles, chocolate sauce AND a flake in my double chocolate chip ice-cream, never enough of a good thing!

I had thought the second book in the series was my favorite but now its got some competition. I loved that this book involved consequences from the events from book two and that was a great lil tie in to the grittier tones of book one and two after the lighthearted Oceans Eleven Heist elements of Savage Lover.

Narration was so good I devoured the entire book in one sitting... and then had several repeats of my favorite parts.

My Thoughts on Bloody Heart

I was so excited to get Dante’s book. He definitely left an impression when he was introduced in Brutal Prince. Sophie Lark didn’t disappoint with his story. This had several different tropes, some of which I didn’t see coming going in. But it was well laid out. I have to say I was most impressed with her character development when it came to Simone. She was so young and naïve in the beginning. And even when everything changed and took a turn for the worst (which is expected in these kind of stories) I could actually understand how things unfolded the way they did. She had several things working against her from outside pressures to her own mental and physical state and she was really young. It was hard to truly dislike her for her choices. She really strengthened and came into her own after “the event”. She went from sheltered and naïve to driven and independent. But I loved that her love for Dante withstood, just as his did. This second chance romance is definitely one I thoroughly enjoyed.

Both of these narrators did an excellent job. I felt that Alan Carlson had a nice, deep tone that I felt fit the description of Dante. Likewise I felt like Josie Kunz was a good fit for Simone. She had a young tone that I still thought worked even with the 9 year age up in the story. Both these voices were newer for me, but I enjoyed them.

Second chance Mafia Romance

Bloody Heart by Sophie Lark

Audiobook version narration by Alan Carlson and Josie Kung. Book 4 in the Brutal Birthright Series.
#PinkFlamingoProductions Finished April 24

This series keeps getting better and better. Loads of passion, and intrigue and with a dash of angst to keep this mafia second chance romance with my interest from start to finish. It has elements of a few genres; first love, mafia, suspense, second chances and a secretive birth too!

Dante is one sexy, brooding alpha man who goes after what he wants and Simone is a feisty, naive and innocent girl at the start of this story.

Sophie writes unpredictable characters in this series. Who would think a chance meeting between a family heiress and a would-be car theft could grow into a passionate and special relationship. And wow the introduction to Raylan! Swoon and his commitment to helping Dante rescue Simone was the best!

What I love about audiobooks produced by Pink Flamingo is the attention to detail in choosing appropriate narrators who are amazingly cast into the roles. I’m new to both Alan Carlson and Josie Kung. Alan has a deep, masculine tone that really made Dante’s character real. Josie showed great range in showcasing Simone as a hopeful innocent at the start and her vulnerabilities as it moves forward nine years into the future. Simone was just the gal to bring Dante to his knees.

Awesome series and amazing audiobook that is steamy and sexy, full of situations that had me surprised, appalled, cringing and then rooting for in the end. Simone is strong willed and boy she goes through so much in this book and thankfully she brings Dante back around. Because he is a better person with her around.

absolutely loved it

loved the passion, the action, the characters were awesome, the story makes sense and it was hard to put down. i haven't read any other book from the series, but it's something i intend to work on! about the narration: i initially thought the voices were too mature for a 18 and 21 years old guys, but once the 9 years passed, they were just perfect. good acting and good tones. i received a free copy of this audiobook and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Loved it!

Another captivating story in the Brutal Birthright series! I love Dante and Simone's story. It was angsty, emotional, and intense. Their chemistry was hot and the sex was steamy. It kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning all the way until the very end. If you love mafia romance or second chance romance, then you should definitely check out Bloody Heart. Alan Carlson and Josie Kunz both did an amazing job bringing this story to life.

Second Chance Mafia Romance

Bloody Heart by Sophie Lark is a second chance mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Josie Kunz and Alan Carlson. This is the forth book in the Brutal Birthright series and each book can be read as a stand-alone.

I absolutely love Sophie’s books! This series just keeps getting better and better. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed the relationship that between Siomone and Dante. I can’t wait for the next book in the series Broken Vow to be released on audio so I can get Riona and Raylan's story.

Josie and Alan did a great job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I can’t wait to listen to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend this book if you love mafia romance, second chance romance, contemporary romance, or romantic suspense.

Love Dante!

First, let me say while this book stands alone, you definitely want to have listened to the first three books in this series. They are all amazing listens, and you don't want to miss them. Now, this book is intricate and exciting. Fate brings Dante and Simone together the first time when they are young adults. First real love for both, these two are pulled apart by misunderstanding and family disapproval. Now 9 years later, they are back together, again by fate, but things are much different now. Will it make a difference? Does their love stand the test of time? Will this second chance be what they need? Dante is a broody, alpha male, and I love how Sophie Lark layers his personality. His complexity is what drew me to him, and it created a realistic feel to his persona. Simone was a good woman, but at times, I found her weak. As she matures, she definitely gets a backbone, and it made her more endearing to me. Action and thrills take us through some unexpected twists and turns as we get to see how this all plays out. It's a little angsty, a little suspenseful and extremely passionate. Another winner for my ears!

Alan Carlson and Josie Kunz deliver an amazing performance. I absolutely love Carlson's voice. He has a little growl to him at times and he creates his character with all the layers. He pulls them apart as the story progresses and makes Dante real. This is my first time hearing Kunz, and I enjoyed her voice! She has a young adult sound that she is able to mature as Simone grows, and it adds that flair of authenticity. It's a fantastic listen.
