Story
Addiction starts like a sweet lullaby sung by a trusted loved one. It washes away the pains of the day and wraps you in the warmness of the womb where nothing hurts and every dream is possible. Yet soon enough, this warm state of bliss becomes a cold shiver, the ecstasy and dreams become nightmares, yet we can't stop listening to the lullaby. We crave to hear the siren song as it rips us apart.

There is no escaping it, and when the dark forces of the universe come after you, the world will know exactly what you are made of. Will you run? Will you fight? Maybe you’ll join forces with the darkness that rips through your quiet little life. Everyone’s dying to find out.

Story
Fetching a cat out of a tree should’ve been a quick, easy 50 bucks in Kanika’s pocket. Instead, following one stray thought, the devil pays her a visit and leaves her with a debt to repay. Owing the devil a favor is bad enough, but her life is turned upside down when it’s time to pay the piper. First, she doesn’t want the world’s sexiest firefighting, kitten-rescuing Scot as an unwilling companion. Since that wasn’t bad enough, she doesn’t know who wants him dead or why....

The night uncovers all we wish not to see. A troubled man enters a dusky park before sunset. A young woman follows, hidden in shadow. Both have returned to the park to take back something the past has stolen from them, to make right six long years of suffering, and to find justice or perhaps redemption - or maybe they'll settle for some old-fashioned revenge. But something evil is alive and awake in those woods, creatures that care nothing for human motivations. They’re driven by their own insatiable need: a ravenous, bottomless hunger.

Recently, a war in the supernatural community allowed her to get a foothold into her vampire father's world, one of danger, intrigue, glitz, and glamour, where she found not only a home, but a lover, too. Story
A beautiful Civil War era bed and breakfast called Willowwind is cherished and run by a loving couple, Adrian and Caroline Stone. But it’s also haunted by a long-dead Civil War era ghostly vampiress called Lilith who believes the man, Adrian, is her reincarnated soldier/lover and she will do anything to have him, body-heart-and soul, for her own again, no matter how many she must kill. Yet Adrian’s wife, Caroline, along with the spirit of her dead father, will do anything to make sure that doesn’t happen. For true love is far stronger than any evil obsession.
Publisher's Summary
A tantalizing selection of stories from some of the best female authors who've helped define the modern vampire. Bram Stoker was hardly the first author - male or female - to fictionalize the folkloric vampire, but he defined the modern, iconic vampire when Dracula appeared in 1897. Since then, many have reinterpreted the ever-versatile vampire over and over again - and female writers have played vital roles in proving that the vampire, as well as our perpetual fascination with it, is truly immortal. These authors have devised some of the most fascinating, popular, and entertaining of our many vampiric variations: suavely sensual...fascinating but fatal...sexy and smart...undead but prone to detection...tormented or terrifying...amusing or amoral...doomed or deadly...badass and beautiful...cutting-edge or classic.... Blood Sisters collects a wide range of fantastical stories from New York Times best sellers Holly Black, Nancy Holder, Catherynne M. Valente, and Carrie Vaughn and critically acclaimed writers Chelsea Quinn Yarbro and Tanith Lee, all of whom have left their indelible and unique stamps on the vampire genre. Whether they are undeniably heroes and heroines or bloodthirsty monsters (or something in between), the undead are a lively lot. This anthology offers some of the best short fiction ever written by the "blood sisters" who know them best: stories you can really sink your teeth into.

If you're into vampire genre
What about the narrators’s performance did you like?
different narrators for the different stories really made a difference. I enjoyed most of the stories. Remember this is an anthology and there will be some you may not enjoy. I found only about 4 I didn't really enjoy, but the rest were very different and some scary and some funny
If you could rename Blood Sisters, what would you call it?
A history of Vampires by women writers
Any additional comments?
this is an anthology of over 20 stories. The introduction by Paula Gunran was especially enjoyable explaining how the book was put together and the history behind the stories. If Vampires are your thing you may with to get this anthology.
