"What are you wearing under this dress?" he asked, his mouth brushing hers, the words whisper-soft.

Not what she expected him to say. "E-excuse me?"

His teeth sank into her lower lip, making her yelp. "Focus."

On what? The demon club? The humans dying downstairs? The fact that you're a f*cking vampire? Where should I begin?

He sighed, his forehead falling to hers. "Astasiya, we have very little time to sort this before the Conclave. I need you to work with me. Both our lives depend on it. What are you wearing?"

She cleared her throat, her hold on his neck tightening as if needing his support to respond. And maybe she did. This was all a lot to take in. "A, uh, thong," she managed to say. "And a strapless bra." Both black and lacy, but she didn't add that part.

One of his hands drifted from her hair to her waist, then down to her ass. His palm flattened and forced her to arch up into him. A breath hitched in her throat at the feel of his growing arousal.

He's turned o...here...now?

She trembled, the heat of his body seeping into her cool skin, warming her blood. They were standing rather close. And he smelled amazing, as always.

Anywhere else, in the dark, she'd have kissed him.

But here...

"The dress will have to stay, then," he said, the disappointment evident in his voice.

She frowned. "What's wrong with my dress?" It hit her midthigh and clung to her curves. She looked good in it.
He ignored her, his mouth brushing hers in a chaste kiss as his hips pressed firmly into hers.

Definitely aroused.

"You're going to see things tonight that will make you want to scream, but you must remain calm and quiet. Mortals who overreact die, and they die badly."

Immortal Curse Series

Audiobook Review:
Blood Laws (Immortality Curse Series, Book 1) is a creative tale in a paranormal world. With well seriatim realm foundation characterization & settings. The narrative as well as the style of writing is intriguing and unparagoned. Character's evolve throughout and have a mysterious facet. I loved the fun banter and flirty moments between Issac and Stass. A gripping prologue that leads into a mystery, & sensual elements intricately entwined into a entertaining listen.

Narators Kale Williams and Sarah Puckett dual narration performance is dynamic and full-bodied. Kale Williams is a talented voice-artist. His inflection reflected the different characters. His tone was smooth, deep and ntoxicating. His female interpretation was fantastic. Sarah Puckett's analytical artistry is always a luminosity performance. Her rendition of male character's tone is exceptional and almost as perfect as her female character's tones. Her talent is flawlessly illustrated with her performance of this audiobook. Her passion brings the character's personalities to a real world that you can escape to for awhile. Her tone of voice, inflection, volume, and pace of speech flowed through flawlessly and smoothly. A perfect choice for narrating this audiobook. Excellent naration and perfect dual to perform this riveting story.

dark, intense

Enter into the world of the immortals. When Astasia was a child, she was always told not to use her powers of persuasion, keep them hidden. She meets Isaac Wakefield, billionaire vampire playboy. He takes an interest in Astasiya, because she is special. She has questions, he has answers. Giving her answers can get the both of them killed.
This story is riveting, dark, intense, Secrets, betrayal. This first book is setting the groundwork of the mystery surrounding Astasiya, a secret society, warring angels and demons.
Kale Williams and Sarah Puckett are perfection in their narration. Their performance was fantastic, telling the story with such emotion. They bring the angst, raw emotion and personality to each character.

Just Amazing

What happens when you have spent your whole life hiding your gifts because you think that using them led to the death of your parents? Only to find out that you are a powerful being and to unlock your full powers you must die but that there are hundreds of people who want you dead... What do you do when you meet a beautiful woman who you think will be the perfect way to get revenge only to find that she has dug herself into your heart, changing who you are and healing you? Issac and Astasiya are facing the worst conditions that they could, worse than they could have foreseen. Both are trying to navigate a world that wants to kill each of them and tells them that they cannot be together. Astasiya must face a world she has been hiding from, and that her memory has wiped away, but she has Issac by her side to help her learn... or does she? This is a must read!

When I started this book, I thought it would be a fun book - but wow it was more than fun! Sex, danger, forbidden love, lost memories, and so much more! By the end I was completely drawn in and I just cannot wait to start the next one! I need to know what happens next! Yes there is a cliff hanger ending and yes you will want to join their world and yes you will forget that you are listening to the story rather than living it!

Sarah Puckett as always is just amazing, voice that brings you into the characters' emotions from sexy to fear to rage - she blows it out of the water. This is my first Kale Williams book, but wow... He does this amazing British accent that just makes you melt! I want to listen to him more and just enjoy his voice - even if he was reading something boring like a manual!

Blood Laws

Same great story with slightly new narration. I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and very interesting. I really enjoyed the character development between the two main characters. It is also pretty steamy. I will defiantly be listening to the next book. Highly recommend if you enjoy PNR. Sarah and Kale really bring the characters to life! Great Narration!

Dark Paranormal Romance!

This is the second edition to this audiobook, and the first book in the Immortal Curse Series, a Dark Paranormal Romance. This is a great introduction to the Series. Astasiya and Isaac's story is complex and intriguing. The storyline is original, and the world building between Immortals and Vampires is well done. Kale Williams and Sarah Puckett did a great job with the narration. They are perfect as Astasiya and Isaac. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listen to Forbidden Bonds, the second book in the Series. #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlock #AudiobookObsession

Unbelievable in every way

Welcome to the Immortal Curse world - where vampires avoid stereotypes, bad ass alphas have hearts and heroines know how to bump monsters back.

Lexi C Foss has truly created something spectacular here: a world where there are unlimited book boyfriend potentials, a truly immersive and unique take on vampires, and supernatural powers don't automatically guarantee a win. And as for vampires, even if they aren't your thing, this series is, because trust me when I say this: ichorians are not your run of the mill vampires, and this is so very very refreshing.

First, let’s get the performance out of the way. Sarah Puckett is it. She is absolutely the voice of Astasiya because frankly - she just FITS the character. She has an emotional range that can beat almost anyone out of the park. As for Kale: he is the number one voice for male characters for me. He is just it. He has an emotional range better than any other voice actor I’ve come across, and has accents that are absolutely spot on. He is able to hit Issac’s accent perfectly (aged British that’s been influenced with American). He is absolutely Issac, and as great as Joel did with the original recording, I’m ecstatic that Lexi had this re-recorded.

Blood Laws introduces this series' main characters: the drop dead gorgeous billionaire playboy Issac Wakefield and the stunning, intellectual but snarky Astasiya Davenport. And while these descriptions may seem stereotypical, let me make one thing clear: these two are anything but the norm for romance.

Let's look first at the Hero: Issac. Lexi has done an amazing job with Issac - as the description says he is an immortal masquerading as a billionaire playboy. This could easily have Issac falling into the trap of Christian Grey, and developing a rags to riches story in which he pampers the Heroine into falling in love with him. But that's not how Lexi does it, instead crafting a hero that uses wealth as a means to an end rather than a dependent characteristic upon which the heroine falls in love. In other words: even if Issac wasn't a billionaire, he would still be his bad ass self, just a little less well dressed. And believe me: he would still get the girl. Not to mention, while he ticks all the boxes for a well dressed alpha male, he truly shows a depth of emotion and range of thinking that are not standard to the A type big bad ass boys that you meet in many novels.

Now let's take a look at the Heroine: Stas. Wow. I was not prepared for her to be just how relatable she is. Despite having what might appear to be a tragic and overused background, she is not a victim. She takes events on headfirst, and is the sort of character you could actually imagine being real. She handles every single major thing that happens in a relatable way, and I never found myself thinking that she was too perfect. She is also a very attractive woman, but maintains male friendships and plot devices are not built around every male in the series falling head over heals for her as soon as they meet her.

The chemistry of Stas and Issac is off the charts: despite having all the odds stacked against them in a literal sense they are literally under the impression that the two of they find a dynamic and passionate relationship that burns from the get go and crescendos in an important moment in the book. They compliment each other perfectly, and despite major differences in personalities and backgrounds, they have actual defining similarities that hold them together as a couple rather than he's hot / she's got a nice ass and our love knows no bounds. Essentially, they're a real couple.

On the note of the characters as well, I love how Lexi is able to develop the characters and their backgrounds without a mind dump of over explanative paragraphs. You learn of their abilities and gifts in ways woven throughout the story that naturally just fit. This keeps the narrative flowing, rather than causing me to drift and want to skip parts. Even when its time to get down to really learning the paranormal world you find yourself in, she does it in such a way that the scenes and explanations make sense.

The supporting characters also bring a strength to the cast that truly makes you want to look to the next story. I'm not a huge fan of series where we go from couple to couple, preferring to go through a fully developed story line with one couple, but Lexi is able to truly make me want to see what happens next for each of the supporting characters. No one is one dimensional: even the biggest playboy of the series has a range that makes you really want to see his story. Interactions are natural, and setup many adventures to come (in both prequels and future novels, but more on that another day).

Another humongous point for Lexi is that she makes her alphas in this series respectful of today's climate without going political. What do I mean by that? Well, she makes point that the hero is truly looking for consent when he is engaging in any sort of sexual play with the heroine. This does not detract from the story or the emersion in the fantasy, making this point in both subtle and overt ways.

The final major plot point I'd like to make is that Lexi has done something few authors really do in romances: even without the romance (which is essential and absolutely bombshell dynamic) there is a compelling story here featuring believable characters and supernaturals who can actually be defeated. This makes for one hell of a storyline throughout the series.

I cannot emphasize this enough: this is a true pinnacle of modern paranormal fantasy, and worth the read in every single way. Be prepared to stay up late, and don't put down any of the books.

Excellent

I loved every minute of this book the first time I was excited to listen again with Kale Williams narrating and it did not disappoint.
The interaction with all the characters was amazing but the chemistry between Stas and Issac was so intense.

Wow

This is one of the longer paranormal romances that I have listened to, but included so much detail. I loved knowing more about astasia’s parents and past then she did. It was a fun tidbit of information that I am not sure I have ever had with a book before. Having more knowledge about the MCs past then anyone else in the book because of the flash backs.

The world building and character development that went into this book is amazing and I love, love, loved the narrators!

I have read the blurb for book 2 and I am super excited to read it! I hope that we still get more info on stass even though Amelia and Tom will be the focus of the next one.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review.

Great start to the series

This is the first of the series and it started in a great way, it was good pacing and the worldbuilding was pretty good. I enjoyed the characters, definitely liked the mystery behind the story and I would like to continue reading the rest of the series. I got the audiobook narrated by Kale Williams and Sarah Puckett, they do a brilliant job narrating it, I love Sarah Puckett from previous audiobooks and this one is no different. The editing was well done and I would recommend getting it.

i want to know what happens next!!! not fair!

ok first point.. the story is cut right when something big is about to happen, so you must buy book 2 if you want to know what happens next. it's a fairly long book and i was a bit disappointed to find out it didnt conclude the story at the end. said that, i have another couple of points to discuss.
the characters are all supermodels, obviously not realistic, but then again, who cares, it's about vampires and other immortal beings, so if we want to imagine them, let's do it properly, right? the passion between the 2 mcs is almost palpable. truly well written. i dont particularly appreciate when writers use the same terms over and over and in this book it unfortunately happens.
and now about the performance:
Kale is absolute perfection. he can do pretty much any accent and he was the obvious choice to play a posh english vampire. no brainer. loved every minute narrated by him. Sarah this time let me down. she is a brilliant narrator, she sounds very natural and believable, but she insisted on portraying the Mc with a romanian accent despite he is clearly british. also, for some reasons her natural accent and pronunciation faults were too evident here - she tends to mispronounce i "him" become "hem", "innocence" "ennocence".. in pretty much every word containing "i" it happened continuously during the book and it was pretty annoying. i listened to her in other book and this was not so evident.

i have received a free copy of this audiobook and i am leaving a voluntary review.

Loved every minute, felt pulled into the story.

I already love this series, but getting to hear it on Audible brought the whole story to life. Kale Williams IS Issac, absolutely perfect casting. His tone, pacing, everything just captures exactly how I imagined it when reading the first time.

This is one of those series that you appreciate even more on rereads and repeat listenings. Little details that lead to bigger reveals in later books and callbacks to moments and mentions you thought were insignificant. Nothing in these books is an accident, the world is epic and detailed. It grows on itself every time.

Hearing all the characters 'voices' helped me understand their personalities on a deeper level. On a side note hearing the proper pronounciation of some of the names, was extremely helpful.

This was my first time with an audiobook and it was a great book to start with. I received an ARC for an honest review.
