Publisher's Summary

This is her shot.

Brit has the chance to make history by being the first female goalie to play for an NHL team, the San Francisco Gold. So, when she is introduced to Stefan, the Gold's captain, she is determinedly not interested.

Stefan is sexy, charming, and has a publicly documented list of conquests a mile long. But Brit is unwilling to risk mixing business with pleasure, even when that business is wrapped up in a six-foot-plus, gorgeously muscled package. When management pushes Brit and Stefan together in an effort to gain good press for the beleaguered team, Brit finds that her carefully calculated disinterest doesn’t mask her body's desires. The more she falls for Stefan, the more she risks her career.

Will she be able to have it all - a starting position and the heart of the captain? Or will she lose everything?

couldn't finish it

I went on the reviews of others and used a credit...all I can say is at least I didn't pay. first time ive read this author and she us definitely not my cup of tea. she writes way to introspectively for my liking which drags the story on and on. I struggled to chapter 30 hoping it was get better once the back stories were in place...but nope...it just kept going and in my opinion the drag on the storyline reduced the hero to a beta not an alpha...simply not a strong enough plot and made me way to impatient. I like sport stories but this one.....sorry Ms Faber your not for me. and the narrator's...oh boy...never listened to Ms Laurel before and I won't again. I had to speed her up to stop the double drag on the novel. Mr Salinas...I nearly started a series with his as a solo narrator but I'm glad I didn't....his tone and inflection doesn't work for me at all. give me Sebastian York or John lane any day

Blocked deserves a perfect 10.

Blocked deserves a perfect 10. Faber breaks down barriers with a great story. Brit is more than window dressing. She's all heart. Behind her tough exterior, beats the heart of a battered soul. Her demons run deep, but so does her determination. Despite life's hard knocks she finds the courage to follow her dreams and maybe, just maybe open her heart to more than the game she's dedicated her life to. Through Blocked isn't the average romance read, it definitely leaves it's mark on the heart. Faber, Salinas, Laurel and Co. make it easy to cheer for the underdog.

Excellent narration from both Lacy and Gregory

This book popped my cherry with a hockey storyline. I don't watch it or understand the game, but Elise wrote it so well i didn't need to know anything about how to play the game. Really enjoyed the angle of the plot, loved the humour. Looking forward to seeing more from this series and how many more "puck bunnies " there are! #audiobookobsessionreviewer

Fantastic

I really enjoyed that this was a female hockey player. This made it very entertaining and unique. I would have loved for there to be more on the original characters as I found them to have a lot of chemistry and their story really intrigued me. That being said I loved Elise’s writing style and can’t wait to listen to more. The narrators also really worked well for this book

Great🎧📚🎧Book! Stefan💘Brit a Pucking 🏒Golden Couple

This is a great sports romance, it is well written with interesting and original storylines that captivated me from start to end. The characters are likable and easy to relate to. Brit always wanted to play professional hockey, she has faced several hurdles before landing a position in an NHL team, the San Francisco Gold. I admired her strength and determination to make it and how she handles her teammates, not wanting special treatment and wanting to be with the team at the cost of her privacy so she would not be kept out of the loop. Stefan, the teams captain takes a liking to Brit is not interested, besides he has a reputation to be a ladies man. I adored Stefan, he has a lot of heart, wants to do what is best for the team and looks out for his mom too. When management approached Brit and her coach and gives he a task to do, one she was not happy about but obliged to help the team and the coach. There is great chemistry between Brit and Stefan and the more they get to know each other the deeper it gets. But all goes to hell when secrets are revealed. This book is heavily plotted and there is never a dull moment. There is plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, heartfelt moments and a hot romance. There are some great secondary characters and I am looking forward to their stories. Elise Faber, thank you for this pucking great story! Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas are fabulous narrators and voice artists. They do an awesome job portraying the characters, bringing them to life, giving each their own voice and personality. I loved Lacy Laurel’s Brit, she grasped her persona perfectly, Gregory Salinas’ Stefan was spot on too. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and project them into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen🎧 Thank you 🎧@AudiobookObsession #AudiobookObsession #AudiobookObsessionReviewer🎧

Score One for the Gold

Title: Blocked Author: Elise Faber Format: Audio Narrators: Lacey Laurel and Gregory Salinas Genre: Romance - Sports (Hockey) Standalone: Yes Part of a Series: Book 1 of the Gold Hockey series POV: Brit and Stefan Steam Level: Slow burn to steamy at times 5/5 Blocked is the first book in the Gold Hockey series. I read book two a while ago and, while I didn't need to have read Blocked first it's nice to read Brit and Stefan's book. The more I read of Elise Faber the more I like her work. I also really like hockey romance. I loved both Brit and Stefan and look forward to seeing more of their HEA when I read the more of this series. Sweet, funny, smart and emotional, Brit deals with being the first female in the NHL, corrupted management and press. Falling for Stefan, her team captain, isn't something she set out to do but management has other plans for them. I liked how Elise Faber dealt with trauma and hard emotions. Stefan and Brit are both strong and soft and are so great with each other. I received this audiobook for free from Audiobook Obsession. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Stand alone if you skip the epilogue

This is the first book I've read by Elise Faber. I'd recommend it to contemporary sports romance fans. Just a warning, the epilogue is really just an intro to book 2. The main characters from Blocked don't even appear in the epilogue. When I started the next book I realized it's actually the first chapter of Backhand, so it should really just be included as a preview of book 2, not as an epilogue for book 1. Hockey is my favorite sport, so when I saw the premise of a female pro hockey player I was excited to read it. I would have liked it even better if another player wasn't the romantic interest, but I did still like the story. Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas did well with the narration. I always appreciate having a male/female team when the stories are in dual points of view, though normally the character voices match better between the two narrators (I mainly noticed with Stefan's dialogue). The narration was solid, but could have had more emotion/sound effects/conversational tone to make it come more alive. #AudiobookObsession

Good story, a little too much happening

I really liked this story as the beginning of the series. The characters are great and I love that Brit is a female who is breaking the glass ceiling by being the first female goalie in the NHL. How very cool. Stefan is the captain of the team and he's also a strong character for the reader to like- he's loyal, honorable and just a good guy all around. This is not only seen in how he treats Brit but also how he treats his mom *swoon*. I love when a man treats his mother well. Both he and Brit are hiding things in their past and their current situation. Brit also has the added issue of having to "prove" her role on the team both the to the teammates and the upper echelon of managers. It's not a new type of story but so well done that it is enjoyable. As with all first in the series, there was just so much going on and so many people. The names started to get a little confusing to me. I think that if I was reading, it would be a little more easy to reconcile who was who. But overall, I'm looking forward to the others in the series and in fact, am already listening to Mike's story and liking that one a lot too! The narrators are really strong. I have to say that I initially wasn't a fan of Lacy Laurel from another book and after listening to a few of her books, she has not only grown on me but I really like her style. I think Gregory Salinas does a really nice job differentiating between the multiple characters including female characters and really, both do a great job bringing the story to life. Love the take on ice hockey & fab narration

Ooooo I love the way that Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas brought these characters to life is fantastic. They pulled me into the story and didn't let me go. I love the set up of this book, the woman in a man's world and all she has to cope with and go through. It's a new angle on ice hockey for me and I really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed watching the characters and how they coped with everything going on around them and how their relationships built and what happened after. I love the way that Brit doesn't take any crap from anyone yet she has a vulnerable side too. I just really enjoyed the story and would highly recommend it.

Good

The narration of the book was really great, it really does enhance the story and makesit better. While I have listen to Lacy Laurel before, and I love her performance a lot, it was myfirst time listening to Gregory Salinas, he has a great voice and his performance was great. The storyline of the book was good and kept my attention throughout the book, it has some frustrating parts but it's all part ofc what makes this book good. 🎧 Audiobook Obsession 🎧

A Fan of Stefan ;)

Audiobook review. 3 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love hockey romances and was excited to listen to this story. I liked how mature Stefan was. He comported himself like the leader that he is and was responsible, honest, and kind. Brit was faced with a tough choice and I don’t blame her for her missteps. Both had a natural and easy connection. The secondary characters generated interest and were used effectively. The plot was centered on the external conflict and I would’ve liked for some more time to be spent on developing the relationship. The pace was good until the climax and then went faster from there. Finally, the resolution/grand gesture... I don’t know if this will make sense to anyone but me but here it is: In my mind I understood that I should feel like the gesture was enough and grand. However, it felt a bit anticlimactic. I didn’t feel the typical satisfaction I’m used to when things are set to rights. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad story, I just feel like there were some missed opportunities. The narrators, Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas, did a great job with their roles. Their performance, to include tone, pitch, pace, and inflections, was solid. Complementary copy received and voluntarily reviewed.

Sports Romance

Blocked by Elise Faber is a sports romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas. This is the first book of Elise’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. You can’t help but fall in love with Brit and Stefan. I cannot wait to read more books from this series. Lacy and Gregory did an amazing job on the narration. They are a great duo. I cannot wait to find more projects that they have worked on. AudiobookObsessionReviewer
