About this listen

JARED

If I had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made my heart skip a beat...

The heart everyone assumes is frozen over.

Her anger is...arousing.

Every glare from those fire-spitting eyes, every time she grits her teeth, gets me...well, you know.

If I had a dollar for every time she's put me in my place, I'd be an even richer man.

I'm a successful sports agent because I assume "no" means you'll think about it.

I'm sure what you meant to say is, "Coming right up."

They say even rich men don't always get what they want, but those men don't know how to play the game.

The trick is to keep them guessing. Take Banner.

She assumes she's winning, but this game?

She doesn't even know how to play.

BANNER

If I had a dollar for every time Jared Foster broke my heart, I'd have exactly one dollar.

One night. One epic fail. One dollar...and I'm out.

I've moved on. I've found success in a field ruled by men.

Anything they can do, I have done better.

They can keep the field while I call the shots, blocking them when I have to.

And Jared has the nerve to think he gets a second chance?

Boy, please. Go sit down. Have several seats.

I'll just be over here ignoring the man carved from my fantasies with a lust-tipped chisel.

Oh, I didn't say the struggle wasn't real.

But I've got that one dollar, and Jared won't have me.

One of the tropes is cheating. She said no and he does it any ways.

I just … look I make no secret of not being a blurb reader - weird I know, but I get enough context from posts or have vague understanding of what the story will be about, what tropes are used and generally, I prefer going into a book blind. I don't watch trailers for movies either, all the best bits are in there and I want to be surprised.

This was no exception, I hadn't read the blurb, knew enough about the book to give it ago, plus Long Shot had already wrecked me, plus I can tell you unequivocally that had I read the blurb, I would not have been substantially interested in the subject matter - not enormously my thing. Again, Long Shot was brilliant though, so I put my headphones on a delved into the world of sport agents.

I was hooked by the 3% mark. The emotional trauma was not nearly as jarring as the first book in this series, but the love interest and the unfurling of said interest was just as captivating. Kennedy has a way of writing her characters, their thoughts and actions in a way that immerses you into their lives completely and irrevocably.

Everything about her writing feels real, rough, the real plight of the lonely heart destined to find love, even if it must claw it's way through everything life throws at it, even if it isn't perfect, even if the fight destroys you. In the end it's worth it and you feel every emotion while you're on this journey she has so carefully set you on. Stunning. Again. Will definitely be reading the third instalment.

Thoroughly enjoyed this audio book. Jared's character is fire. Banner is real and relate able.
Spicy scenes are amazing. Had to listen to it twice. Jared's voice melts my heart. Highly reccommend

Not a bad story. Nothing compared to book one nothing memorable. MMC opening admitted taking what he wants. In what world would this end happily ever after?

I rarely leave reviews, however I was so excited to listen to this book after looking through the reviews and in turn was grossly disappointed at the premise of this story (and surprised that not one review highlighted this). You cannot romanticize cheating and pull off a heroine that is supposed to be an amazing human when they have no respect or care for someone they love so deeply, even if only in friendship. It's a contradiction in on itself and the only reason I kept reading was to see if there was any redeeming her... there wasn't. It actually bothers me that it didn't bother anyone else. I understand everyone is flawed, but you can still differentiate right from wrong, and I felt like we were being forced to see Banner in a positive light. I just couldn't. Hoping that any reader that feels the same way reads this before they purchase the book. Cheating is cheating people, no matter what bow you wrap it in.

Readers be warned on the premise of this story
