About this listen

Three years ago Toni's five-year-old daughter, Evie, disappeared after leaving school. The police have never been able to find her. There were no witnesses, no CCTV, no trace.

But Toni believes her daughter is alive. And as she begins to silently piece together her memories, the full story of the past begins to reveal itself - and a devastating truth.

Toni's mind is trapped in a world of silence. Her only chance to save herself is to manage the impossible: she must find a way to make herself heard. She must find her daughter.

A compelling, gripping thriller with a breathtaking twist that will keep you awake until the early hours. Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train, Behind Closed Doors and The Sister.

Story was captivating in parts by keeping you guessing in places
Very very long winded and would have been a 5 star if the story was condensed
The narrator was excellent bringing to life each character
Good book to not have to think too much about and have leisurely time to read it

A little long winded

Great book. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Found myself getting emotionally involved with the pain of the main character. The ending was not what I expected. The narrator was so easy to listen to.

Not what I was expecting

One of the best from this author. Read all of her 10 books and I would say that it’s in my top 3.

Very good

I enjoyed this book. It was so full of twists and turns I had no idea who did it. Love that is wasn’t predictable in the slightest.

Leaves you guessing till the very last minute

The first 2/3rds kept on about the pills, didn't need repeating continually, I got it.

Blink was repetitive and I guessed the plot.

Found it hard to like or feel empathy for the main character so I guess that means she was well portrayed. Made it hard to keep listening at times tho. Guessed the outcome at least half way through except the twist which was a good treatment and saved the book from being a bit obvious. Great narration thank you. Still recommend worth listening to this book

Good plot well narrated

Great job with creating mystery and suspense. A few loose ends but nothing unforgivable. Ended with a bang. Great listen.

Keeps You Guessing

I really appreciated the seamless way the author switches our perception of who’s story we’re listening to.

Seamless

Lucy Price-Lewis narrates a complex tale of the odd normal in grief professionally unsupported where the deaths reveal a soliloquie of responses to the trauma and recovery from grief. Lucy's voice depicts the different characters so well that they become real. K.L. Slater's writing is simple despite the complexity of interrelationships; too simple for such complex responses to grief. The ending is far too simple and feels rushed, unsubstantial and inexplicable.

An extraordinary tale of self-interested revenge

Overall the book was very interesting with again a twist that this author pulls off. She keeps you guessing the whole book. Part one started to go on for a bit and could have been made shorter. The ending was somewhat abrupt and left me wondering. I did enjoy the book

Interesting
