Publisher's Summary

A kingdom in turmoil or the love of her life. Which one will she save?

Elemental mage Rielle hasn't heard from her best friend in far too long. Yet no one at the Tower of Magic seems to care about Olivia’s silence or the curtain of secrecy surrounding the distant capital. Before Rielle can investigate, she's assigned a strange new mission: escort a knight named Jon across the kingdom.

When whispers reveal mercenaries have killed the king, taken the capital, and that no one is coming to help, Rielle can’t leave Olivia in peril. But as infamous mages and deadly assassins hunt Jon, she can’t leave him unprotected either - especially as she finds herself falling for his strength, his passion, and his uncompromising goodness. Her past returns to haunt her, a werewolf stalks their steps, and an ancient evil is gathering, yet the restraints forbidding their love strain and snap one by one.

Saving Olivia and the kingdom means defying orders and sacrificing her every ambition and could mean losing the man who's become so much more to her than a mission. Which will she choose: her best friend and the kingdom or the love of her life?

If you like the romance of A Court of Thorns and Roses, the epic adventure of Game of Thrones, and a heroine who never gives up, you’ll love this romantic epic fantasy series.

Buy Blade & Rose and dive into a medieval world sensual and dark, full of magic and greed, love and blades, where factions vie for influence and there are no easy choices.

A wonderful, thrilling tale!

This book was beautifully voiced and the story compelling. Had me on the edge of my seat for most of the book. I highly recommend everyone to listen to this one. I am (impatiently) waiting for the next book.

Story draws you in

The action starts from the start and never stops. I love that the back story was built as the story was told instead of taking up the first half of the book. I don't even know which love interest I love more or villains I hate more. I am impatient for the next book to be on audio.

Dont let the lenght of the book scare you away!!

This review is based on an audio-book that I received. It is an honest review and the complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.

'Blade & Rose' by Miranda Honfleur is the story of Rielle. 'Blade & Rose' is officially the start of the series. This series has 5 books, but later this year (2019) book 6 will be released. There are also 2 novella's. This audiobook is about 21 hours and 23 minutes long. .

The narrator, Amanda Leigh Cobb has a nice and clear spoken voice and with pacing that makes the story easy understand and follow. She is easy to listen to.
I always need to get used to someone voice, but in her case it didn't take long.
I liked Amanda Leigh Cobb's voice straigh away. Her pronunciation is very good and she added the perfect amount of emotion when needed. The sound quality is also good. She is awesome and she totally uplifts the story with her talent as narrator.

This audio-book is very long. I found it very dounting to start this book. But that wasn't the case.
This book is super, and absolutely worth the read, just make sure that you have the next book available to read immediately because you will want it. The author does a great job at drawing you into this magical world and teasing you with little bits of information along the way that creates mystery among their journey leading to a big plot twist near the end of the book. I can not wait to start book two!

Dive into a medieval world sensual and dark, full of magic and greed, love and blades, where factions vie for influence and there are no easy choices.

Elementalist Rielle hasn't heard from her best friend in far too long. Yet no one at the Tower of Magic seems to care about Olivia’s silence, or the curtain of secrecy surrounding the distant capital. Before Rielle can investigate, she's assigned a strange new mission: escort a paladin named Jon across the kingdom.

When whispers reveal mercenaries have killed the king, taken the capital, and that no one is coming to help, Rielle can’t leave Olivia in peril.
But as infamous mages and deadly assassins hunt Jon, she can’t leave him unprotected either—especially as she finds herself falling for his strength, his passion, and his uncompromising goodness. Her past returns to haunt her, a werewolf stalks their steps, and an ancient evil is gathering, yet the restraints forbidding their love strain and snap one by one.

Saving Olivia and the kingdom means defying orders and sacrificing her every ambition, and could mean losing the man who's become so much more to her than a mission. Which will she choose: her best friend and the kingdom, or the love of her life?

I really liked Rielle. She is a mysterious person, with a secret past. She drew me in the most.
But also her betrothed in marriage; Brennan Marcel, a nobel man and Jon did. Rielle and Jon are both awesome strong characters who could take care of themselves and each had missions of their own. The connection between Jon and Rielle is leading to a slow burn romance filled with all sorts of complications.
Most of the time I don't get what Brennan wants from her and from himself. I think he doesn't have a clear picture what he wants for himself. He is a very confused man. I hope to hear from those 3 in the next book. I find them intriguing charaters.

I would definitely recommend this book if you like romance, magic and an action packed adventure across the kingdom you will enjoy this book. It's a good, solid listen and a promising start to the series.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher for an honest review.

Loved this story!

Loved, loved, loved this book and can not wait for the next in the series!! Wow, what can I say? I was gifted an audiobook of this story and am voluntarily leaving my honest review because it is SO good! The narrator, Amanda Cobb, was the perfect choice! Ms. Honfleur's story is so diverse and well developed, it reminds me of the character complexity and world building of authors like Jordan, Sanderson, Tolkien and McCaffrey. It is long, but so are the best stories out there. I can't recommend this enough to anyone. Get it in any format and you'll love it. Get it in audio and sit back for one of the best story telling's I can remember.

Great book

Wonderful well written story with characters you fall in love with and a setting that is magical. The main characters are flawed, but also try to always make the right decisions given what they have to work with. The story and characters pull you in so you don't want to put the book down. I can't wait to see what happens next

This book leaves me thinking about it long after I put it down.

The description of this story was already intriguing; a world full of magic, knights, damsels in distress and the ones putting them there. Then, I saw it was narrated by Amanda Leigh Cobb and that sold me. I loved her narration of the Court of Thorns and Roses series and this book was just as good. It was wonderfully long and an enjoyable story. This was a surprisingly good book. The only reason I gave it four instead of five stars, was that the characters were too rational for all the peril and drama that they faced. They all had an amazing control of their emotions, and verbalized quite well. I can completely believe in the magic system, it made sense and had rules. The amazing control made John the most wonderful book boyfriend in the world. Just not quite believable. No one is that amazing. All in all, a definite must read (or listen.) I can’t wait to find out what happens to everyone in the next book.
