Story
With human civilization annihilated by a biological zombie plague, a rag-tag fleet of yachts and freighters known as Wolf Squadron scours the Atlantic, searching for survivors. Within every abandoned liner and carrier lurks a potential horde, safety can never be taken for granted, and death and turning into one of the enemy is only a moment away. Yet every ship and town holds the flickering hope of survivors. One and two from lifeboats, a dozen from a fishing village, a few hundred wrenched by fury and fire from a ship that once housed thousands....

Story
Civilization had fallen. Everyone who survived the plague lived through the Fall, that terrible autumn when life as they had known it ended in blood and chaos. Nuclear-attack submarines facing sudden and unimaginable crises. Paid hunters on a remote island suddenly cut off from any hope of support. Elite assassins. Never-made-it retirees. Bong-toting former soldiers. There were seven and a half billion stories of pain and suffering, courage, hope, and struggle crying out from history: Remember us.

Story
Tom Smith used to be somebody. Now he's just another refugee, fleeing the smoking ruins of civilization. Tom and some trusted allies were able to stay one step ahead of the infected humans and escaped offshore. Now they're holed up in a safe house in coastal Virginia and it's time to break out. Between him and his objective, one of the bank's prepared evacuation camps in the Cumberland Valley, are hundreds of miles of clogged roads, burnt-out towns, and howling mobs of infected humans who know only hunger.

Publisher's Summary
TOP Name Writers Enter the Realm of John Ringo's Black Tide Rising Zombie Apocalypse Series!
A collection of all-original stories set in the Black Tide Rising series of novels created by multiple New York Times best-selling author John Ringo.
Stories by John Ringo, Eric Flint, John Scalzi & Dave Klecha, Sarah A. Hoyt, Jody Lynn Nye, Michael Z. Williamson, and more.
The news that humanity had been dreading for ages had come true. Zombies are real. Worst of all, we created them. The apocalypse was upon us, and every man, woman, and child had to answer a simple question of themselves: "What do we do now?"
For a group of neighbors in the Chicago suburbs of Northern Indiana, it was "work together or die"...and figure out how to live on top of oil storage tanks to keep the zombies at bay. For the Biological Emergency Response Teams in New York City, it was "how long can we fight off the infected before it's too late?" as well as having to fight other groups all out to claim a dwindling stock of supplies and safety. And for a group of cheerleaders, it was about the end of their world. And about what happens when you get a group of physically fit young women really, really angry.
Featuring original stories from some of the brightest stars in the science fiction universe: John Ringo; Eric Flint; John Scalzi & Dave Klecha; Sarah A. Hoyt; Jody Lynn Nye; Michael Z. Williamson; Kacey Ezella - cheerleading coach, veteran, and helicopter pilot; and more.

A great additon to the series with a few flaws.
Okay, first things first. I'm a big fan of John Ringo books. I'm also not a big fan of Zombie Movies. The reason I'm not a big fan of Zombie Movies? Watch the first season of Walking Dead. For every smart thing that the characters did, they did about 10 really really stupid things that just... Annoyed the *Beep* out of me. This is true in just about every Zombie movie I've ever seen. What John Ringo created is world that for the most part has a valid reason for a ZA and people who actually think about things. For the most part the stories in this book follow that lead, you can actually root for the characters, not go, 'jeez the only reason they're still alive is the writer." They're all good reads. That being said, at least a few of the authors either took liberties with canon or didn't really read the stories in depth. This is being nit picky but at least of the stories (actually one of the better ones) Get's progression of the virus wrong. little things like that are the only reason I'm not giving this book a 5/5. If you like books like WWZ then you'll like this book. And if you're going to get this book without reading the others first. Do yourself a big favor and listen to "Under a Graveyard Sky" first. That's how you right a ZA book!

"Better to light a candle than curse the dark."
The guiding motto of the Black Tide series is what sets it apart from other self-destructive zombie narratives, and is the reason I love the main books so much. Unfortunately, this anthology fails to deliver on the spirit of "what next?", instead focusing on reliving the fall through as many different eyes as possible. If you buy this book, be prepared for the same depressing zombie smashing slog again and again. Despite a loving foreword by the editor espousing the value of hope and rebuilding, you'll find next-to-none of it in these guest stories. If you love the Black Tide series for that spark of hope, save your book tokens for the next entry in the main series.

great stories in a great universe
this is the best zombie universe out there. as dark and bleak as walking dead, but with these stories it's not about the infected, or even about the survivors, it is about the human spirit.

Narration is excellent. Mixed bag of stories. I enjoyed most of them, hence the 4 stars. Since most were written by other authors, glad they didn't touch the smith family.

worth it, definitely check this book out!
new take on zombies and how we pick up after, I first found out about John Ringo after he collaborated on monster hunter memoirs with Larry Correia. I took a liking to his writing style and picked up this book and was not disappointed! I chose to start his black tide rising series off here to get and idea of what type of story I had to look forward to. it gets better from here!

This is a good book and an excelent audio performance. The reason i gave it only four stars was that there were some stories i enjoyed a lot more than the others and I wanted them to be the whole book. Buy this book and you will find a story you love... and all of your dreams will come true.

I DON'T LOOK GOOD IN A FEZ
BOY SCOUTS, BATH SALTS AND Logistics
A lot of these stories are Prepper Stories and some are action packed Zombie stories. Many are more deleted scenes than stories. Many don't have endings. Most are narrated by Tristan. Boys Scouts are mentioned often, along with Bath Salts. Some stories are all about the logistics of preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse. Like usual, Scalzi had the best story. I love Zombie stories, but it takes a master writer like Franklin Horton (The Borrowed World) to get me interested in Prepper stories. This is only for hard core bug out lovers.

Mixed Bag
The blessing of anthologies is that you get more of what you want... quality stories that expand the universe in a way that fits "your" idea of how it should fit.
The curse of anthologies is that you get stories that don't "feel" right because the tone, pacing, or in this case performer clashes with the environment you have grown used to.
All-in-all it was a good listen/read. 4.5 out of 5 stars would recommend.

Poor compared with the other book in series
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
Maybe a good way to start the series?
What was most disappointing about the authors’s story?
Too may other writers not enough From John Ringo
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Tristan Morris and Tanya Eby ?
Tristan was great Tanya was not!
