This book reminded me of Du Maurier, but there were folk horror aspects to the story that made it wholly individual. I loved it. The narration was excellent and it was an excellent study of small village thought. I do wish Caroline hadn’t pretty much vanished midway through, that was my only bugbear. The ending was a perfect sleight of hand with the prayer read out. Excellent.
