I actually gave up on this book for a while. It seemed to go now where. Though, without giving anything away, there is a critically point where that all changes. From then on I was almost hanging on every word.

Harrowing

The story is inspiring. So too are the characters. It amuses me that the author of touching the void would decide to afterwards pursue the North Face.

Nevertheless, a book about crawling can only be considered so interesting. Even with his extraordinary talent for penmanship, the fact that the characters are so isolated from one another means that the ultimate result of this story is a book without any of the surprise and intrigue that generally come from an interplay between characters.

It’s a good story, and a well written book. If it had been shorter, I might’ve complained it to be too short, but as it was, I must say I fancied it too long. Now I must engage some other novel before my accent becomes irreversibly British..
