Publisher's Summary

Shortly before Christmas, Chief Inspector Hanne Wilhelmsen is called to the scene of multiple murders. Four people are found shot dead at the home of the wealthy Stahlberg family. Three of the dead are members of the family, and the fourth victim is an undistinguished author, seemingly out of place. As Hanne and her longtime police partner, Billy T., investigate, they unearth many motives for the murders. But Hanne doesn't believe that the full story has been revealed, and she concentrates her efforts on discovering why the author was at the Stahlberg home. As Hanne draws closer to the truth, she will once again risk everything for justice. But this time, will she pay the ultimate price?

Excellent Read

Huge regret - this was the book when Hanne Wihelmsen needed to die.
The character is prickly, rude , self absobed narsasistic bitch, makes her a good cop but pathetic human, with her partner Celia dead , her playing around with the next partner - she has run the course of the series. The entrance of the dog was briliant as it died after a hellish life and l was thrilled to consider the death of Hanne as perfect timing. So for me she died in this book.
Anne Holt you have gone from outstanding to average.

Confused

Really enjoyed the book and was gripped... But the ending was a bit too dramatic for me. Had left me confused about my whole perception of the story.
Overall 5 stars. A compete page turner.
