Excellent
I love this author and narrator. Both are just wonderful. The story has some great dialogue , so that the character development is believable. The reason for the hero's "revenge" is understandable. The eventual resolution is so great that no one ends up being a villan, which took some really great writing. All of the characters are strong and have human flaws. The complexity is what attracts you to them and makes me want to read further books in this series...I can't wait! I am on to the second book in the series right now....

Mick Truelove is a great character
This is a very good book. I genuinely liked the male lead, Mick Truelove , who was the bastard son of the Duke. He grew up very hard along with his family, a group of bastards raised by Ms. Truelove who took in children unwanted by the person who sired them. Mick was smart, handsome and ambitious. He became rich but all he wanted in life was to be acknowledged by his father so that Mick could be accepted into society. He devised a plan to force the Duke into acknowledging him, which included seduction of the Duke's guardian, a beautiful young girl named Aislynn. As to Aislynn, at first I liked her, but later she did something I did not like. All ended well and I was totally engrossed in the story from the beginning to the very end.

Very sweet story, kept my attention
3.5 stars. This was a well written and character driven story. It kept me entertained from the get-go. The only thing missing for me was the chemistry b/w the h and H. It was mediocre. Kate Reading is a great narrator, but perhaps not great for reading young voices. It's hard to connect to characters and feel chemistry when their age is 20 but they sound 65.

I found a new series!! 💘
I found a new series!! Put everything else aside.. Soon after starting this story it showed potential of being a new favorite. It continued to get better and better even when a part of me expected to be disappointed at any point halfway through then on. “She’d never seen anyone look so marvelously masculine... He looked up and pierced her with his blue gaze. It was like the one time she dared to climb a tree, fallen from her perch, and hit the ground HARD. She struggled to draw in breath; thought it would be forever denied to her, and then it swooshed back in with a sweet delicious ache.” Such a fun story that was brilliantly performed by a personal favorite Kate Reading in audio. Absolutely adore the chemistry of this couple.. just enough sweet & with a whole lotta hawt hawt and hawter!! Enjoy the fireworks!

Not my favorite, but not awful.. 🤷🏻♀️
Midway through I was ready to just quit, but because I had read all the reviews about the “surprise ending” I just sped the story up and kept on going. Once I did get to that part, I had pretty much figured it out but it was enjoyable to see how it would play out. That was about the only part of the story that I enjoyed. Like I said, it wasn't a bad story, I just didn't love it, or Kare Readings narration. It really could be because I had just finished a book in a fantastic series, with an absolutely fantastic narrator (House of Rohan series by Anne Stuart, Narrated by Susan Ericksin) so maybe that influenced my experience in this book. Worth a whole credit? Not sure. 2 for 1 certainly.

lovely
This is a lovely story. It had all that one likes in a romance. Twists, excitement, subtle passion and morality. I very much enjoyed it and will be purchasing the rest of the series. As for Kate Reading? ... This is the first time I've listened to a ready by her and I've got to say she is now by far my favourite narrator. I have purchased over a 100 audio books and could not pay her a better compliment. well done Lorraine not only for the superb book but for your choice in narrator so many authors get it wrong. Thank you and on to the next
