About this listen

Bernice has rare beauty and wealth, but is undeniably socially awkward. Her cousin Marjorie does her best to make Bernice into a social vampire. Being a socialite in America in the 1920s, it seems to her that some of the more archaic feminine ideals need to go. Bernice's long, luxurious hair may need to go, too.

A brilliantly written and entertaining short story. Fitzgerald brings the culture of wealthy youth in the 1920’s to life in detail.
I have listened many times over the years.
BJ Harrison is an excellent narrator (my very favourite). His character distinction allows you to get lost in the story. I can’t recommend him highly enough.
