About this listen

Assistant District Attorney Kaj Cordozo's life is thrown upside down when two masked men attempt to kidnap his son, Elijah. Given the high-profile case Kaj is working on, he's not about to take any more risks.

When Val Sorensen of Burke Broussard Private Investigation Agency is assigned as Elijah's bodyguard, she realises she also has a very personal connection to the gang thought to be behind the attempted kidnap - a run in with Sixth Day cost her brother his life.

As Kaj and Val work together to prevent a second kidnap attempt, they uncover a trail of violence and deception leading back to brothers Aaron and Corey Gates. Aaron is in prison, but Corey is dangerous, at large and about to threaten everything Kaj holds dear.

Will the revelation of involvement from the other Gates brothers lead to answers, or by placing their trust in them will Kaj and Val be putting themselves in even more danger?

I absolutely loved this story I was disappointed in the last one…. I loved the romance, all the characters and the narrator did a great job with all the voices! I hope to hear a story featuring Finn and have his sister play a big part loved that she was mentioned. I enjoyed the length and detail in the story gets u really invested in all the characters, there was quite a few twists too.

Thoroughly enjoyed this story

I think this would have been an easier experience to read as a book - as then i could skim chunks while still catching the story thread. As an audible, it was just too long and could have been half the length and better, with the same story line. I understand the twists were good for the unfolding of the plot, but the detail to get through it was not of value. The narrator was great, the characters were mostly great and well drawn - the stupidity of the protagonists and how they kept going was not. I am likely to actually read others in series if of equal length, and on sale. also had sine production issues i experienced with a book just before - frequently cutting off the first half of a word at the beginning of a sentence, so that was painful too.

Torturously drawn out
