I really enjoyed the twists and subplots in this book. The characters were bought to life by a great narration. I recommend this audio book for a wide female audience

I’m glad this wasn’t the first Lisa Jewell books I listened to as I may not have selected more. The voices of some of the 1920’s characters were somewhat overplayed and annoying. The story was ok but I really had to persevere to get past the first few chapters.

I loved this book. Such a lovely story, beautifully written. Lisa’s descriptions of both post war London and 1995 Soho were so vivid - it was like I was there. And her characters became part of my life. So much so that when I wasn’t reading I was thinking “I wonder how Betty is getting on in London?” That’s a sign of a great book!

Expertly interwoven and beautifully read.
Makes you appreciate your grandparents and think of them as young and carefree not old and frail.

The story took me to London in the 1920’s like I was living in those places. I’m not British, so never really read/heard of that period of time with such minute details. The plot also was amazing to listen to. I super recommend this audiobook.
