About this listen
A heartwarming contemporary romance set in Louisiana’s Butterfly Bayou from New York Times best-selling author Lexi Blake.
Seraphina Guidry loves Butterfly Bayou. A young, single mom, she’s trying to find a place for herself in the town she cherishes, but past mistakes have made her wary. She adores her son but has sworn off men. She’s dedicated herself to restoring a historic house and starting her own business. A quiet life is all she wants.
Harrison Jefferys never expected to find himself in small-town Louisiana, but he has a job to do and a family to reconnect with. After years in the Army, he’s happy to spend time with his aunt Celeste and his cousins in such an idyllic spot. When he meets Seraphina, he starts to think Papillion might be a great place to call home. But a secret from Sera’s past rears its head and threatens to tear the community apart.
Caught between the woman he’s coming to love and the only family he has left, Harry knows he has to follow his heart, and with the help of the crazy, loving, meddling locals find a way to keep them both.

I have to admit I'm not a true lover of Little Town events along with little love interests I much prefer seals, Black Ops and mission type books lots of angst and suspense.
however I was pleasantly surprised with this book and what kept me listening most of all was the narrator. Jessica was awesome her Southern accent tones and inflections for each character had me smiling and that seeemed to bring the wit and comedy that Lexi wrote to life.
the storyline it moved along at a pace that you could usually expect from a small town with lots of ladies and Southern gossip.
it surprisingly had serious undertones of the way the women were expected to behave in that era bringing forth a variety of emotion.
it was also interesting to see a backstory of class differences that makes a small town.
I think the hero and the heroine work well together and the heroine continued her sassy stance to protect her family. her brother Zep sounds like a riot and the next book is all about him so I can imagine there will be a lot of comedy looking forward to it
a nice suprise
