About this listen

Battle Russia is a brand new audiobook set between the original Battle Europa and Struggle Europa. The idea was to bridge the gap and beef up the story of the Barbarossa operation and also in other theaters.

The year is 1942.

Operation Barbarossa is in full swing as the Germans and their Axis allies are moving inside the Soviet Union. The battles of Smolensk and Kiev are looming on the horizon, and further away, Moscow and Leningrad. Can the Red Army withstand the German offensive and defeat the invaders?

The Germans, for their part, are poised to overtake the Ukraine, Leningrad, and the all-important capital of the Soviet Union, Moscow. While the Wehrmacht continues to accumulate incredible victories on the battlefield, major problems are starting to appear. Supplies and the incredible distances of the humongous country are becoming major issues, and the apparently endless Russian hordes could not seem to be defeated.

In the Atlas Mountains, the Western Allies are on the offensive, while the battered (and recently defeated) Axis forces are trying to establish a coherent line of defense near the town of Fez in Morocco.

In Scotland, the British forces hang on to dear life to defend their Fort Williams-Inverness Line, and the Germans, under their new commander (General von Thomas), are poised to launch the final offensive.

And in the Pacific, the Japanese blitzkrieg continues, with the beginning of the attacks on Port Moresby, landings in Australia and big naval battles off the West Coast of America.

This is the story of the Second World War.
