Publisher's Summary

When widowed Amelia Smith takes a fallen soldier into her household, she is shocked to discover he has no idea who he is. Determined to help him recover his memory, she embarks on a journey that will change and endanger them both.

Working out whom and what he is brings back painful memories to Marco. The only constant in his life is his burning desire to take revenge on those who tried to steal everything from him. As his memories return, he needs Amelia Smith's calm good sense more than he ever anticipated. Can a relationship begun in such an unorthodox fashion blossom into love? Especially when the lady is hiding secrets of her own.

Regency ‘adulting’ at its best

Finally…two grown ups! It is a rarity and incredibly refreshing when both main characters of Regency/Historical Romances consistently conduct themselves with intelligence, grace and integrity. Despite their hardships, both Amelia and Marcus remain good people who communicate and treat each other and those around them with respect. It’s a sweet romance with a bit of steaminess to spice things up.

This is the third book of the series which is well written with excellent narration. Although not as lengthy nor intriguing as the first two (which really lay down and cement the foundation of the series filled with betrayal & espionage), it is an interesting and integral part of the series which leaves you with some much needed answers but also wanting to know more. Ie. is Jack Llewellyn ever exonerated? Who was the true puppet-master behind David Rice’s traitorous actions? Is there retribution?

I highly recommend this book but strongly suggest first listening to books 1 and 2 in order beforehand to truly immerse yourself in the story. ‘Loving Michael’ rounds out the series. It’s super short but probably my favourite of the lot as I just love Angelique and the interplay between her and Michael. Don’t miss it either!

Entertaining escapism

I really enjoyed this trilogy. The narrator was great, felt that she enjoyed reading it

Awakening Amelia

It’s so refreshing to have a romance that isn’t girl meets boy. Girl and bit fall in love. Girl and boy fight and go their separate ways. Girl and boy reunite and live happily ever after. These characters still live happily ever after but this is a romance of two people accepting their choices in life and facing things through together, interwoven with other book series characters. The revealed mystery to captain fury was disappointing and not the outcome I was expecting. The twist here didn’t quite work in my humble opinion. Still, a nice round-off book to the series. Thanks to audible for it being provided in the free catalogue.
