Not a book!

Don’t bother purchasing this one hour book as it’s outdated and a waste of time. I wouldn’t even call this a book. It’s more like one episode of a podcast.

short and not enough content

poor content, short and less then inspiring for the money. Many better audio book options out there with more enriched content with greater depth of subject.

1990's tape quality

I was excited to hear this book, I've seen Tony Robinson's commercials since I was a kid. I was really disappointed that it's just the tapes from the 90's, converted to digital. The quality is bad and the themes are quite dated.

Definitely not a fan of this book

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

I'm an Anthony Robbins fan having quite a few of his CDs, but this book .... arrgghhh, it really didn't strike a cord with me. For me the message of "awaken the giant within", didn't come out.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Awaken the Giant Within?

I've got to ask, what was the deal with that woman coming in, what seemed like every five minutes, with quotes??? Definitely the most annoying part of the book!!! To me, if you had cut her out, the book would have either been half the time OR the author could have used the extra time to actually get his message out.

Any additional comments?

One of the most disappointing books I've listened to. My initial reaction is "I want my money back".

Learned an unheard before and practical concept!

After Listening to Audio Books from Robin Sharma, Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, Wayne Dyer, Brian Tracy, Eckhart Tolle, Woody Allen etc still learned a new concept of "pain and pleasure association", started applying and it works very well. Must Read My Shortest Audio Book Till date!!

Life changing

This book is unreal in the sense you can receive and learn all the information that the world can offer right now which believe me, that is all too much to consume.

Having all this information is all but useless if you cannot implement the lessons learnt. This book give you a solid foundation and mindset to take action and live the life that you want for yourself.

Simple lessons from this book on how to change your old beliefs and form new one’s. I have read and listened to many books over my lifetime but this is now one of my 1# recommendations.

It’s not the accumulation of knowledge, but the application.

Smoke Signals

The first 18 minutes of this program was Tony introducing himself and being very vauge on what he can do for you in this audio.

Here's the entire program, in summary:
1. Decide what you want.
2. Take Action to go get it.
3. Notice what works and what doesn't.
4. If it doesn't work, try something else.

WOW! Brilliant! Thanks, Tony!!

The most helpful "take-away" I got from this audio was how you can get RICH by re-purposing old content from other programs and selling it as a separate program. The rest of this audio program is bits and pieces of his other programs re-purposed, and mashed together.

BOOORRRINGG!

Abridged was way too abridged

Too short on substance. I felt cheated. I hope the written product is much better than this was. Not worth buying this audio version.

Not worth it

I was expecting so much more. It was such a let down. I went out and bought the book afterwards to see if it lost something as an audio book, it certainly did. The 90 minutes didn't do it justice.

Too short

What would have made Awaken the Giant Within better?

If this were the entire, unabridged book. This is only equivalent to about 1/3 of the book, which is dense in material. In this audiobook, you get a very short, shallow view of Robbins' coaching methods.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Too short

Have you listened to any of Anthony Robbins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, but only online as videos, which are more apt to be short-form.

NO ONE DOES IT BETTER

On those endless TV infomercials, Tony Robbins comes across as an insincere, hyperactive pitchman who's main goal appears to be separating losers from from their hard-earned cash. The really astonishing truth, however, is that Robbins is not only legitimate, but a source of insights and techniques that work better than those of ANY other motivational or spiritual guru whose work I've encountered. I had a difficult time at first overcoming Robbins' high-intensity speaking style. But once I began stopping the tape to respond to his questions and actually applying his techniques (a combination of Neuro-Associative Conditioning and goal-setting wisdom), my life went through a major transformation. I continue to return to his work when my emotional muscles need strengthening and am always surprised at the solidity of the "science" behind what he does. This particular abridgment is concise and powerful and worth its low price many times over.

Lame. Not the whole book.

Would you try another book from Anthony Robbins and/or Anthony Robbins?

This is a very condensed version, so I'm a bit miffed I spent this much money for a fraction of the book. Also, his voice is grating and very irritating. And it's from the early 90's, so he keeps saying "pause this cassette tape", which I could get past, but overall it's just annoying. The content is OK...though I can think of lots of other better self help books. Try "You are a badass". Much more approachable, less eye-rolling king of stuff.

Would you be willing to try another one of Anthony Robbins’s performances?

Probably not.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Sure. It wasn't a total loss.

Bring clarity and strategy to your life!

Anthony Robbins is the authority on "Life Mastery". I recently bought the newly revised copy of Awaken the Giant Within which made me hesitant to buy this audiobook.
But Anthony cuts through all the extra, unneeded content within the audio book and gets straight to the point. I still have the hard copy for reference which is great.
I highly recommend this book for someone who wants to be able to formulate and articulate the things they do in life an why they do them. Anthony gives unbelievable strategy for accomplishing everything you could ever want.

Tony Robbins is a master

This is an excellent listen. Tony Robbins is not only a motivational speaker, but he is also a psychologist that helps you attain the mindset of a highly successful person. While listening to these tapes, I felt like I had a secret insight into the many luminaries of our society--Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, among others--and what kind of thought processes and stamina they possessed in order to acheive all that they have.

I feel that I can become a highly successful person now too, with some practice. The only limitations that exist are those that I set for myself.

Still one of the best at what he does...

Tony Robbins is still one of the best gurus out there, and this was one of his original programmes. Reading his books was not as powerful for me as listening to his actual recordings. To actually hear Tony's enthusiasm, energy and passion in your ears, in stereo, is far more engaging. Even listening to a ten or twenty minute segment while walking to the bus stop can fire you up. You have an edge over most people who listen to their own negative inner voice, or replay negative comments from their past. In this programme, he covers 'pattern interrupts' and how to erase those old 'mental tapes' many people play on a loop to themselves. Break old patterns and learn new ones.

Lot of shouting

Unnecessary shouting, hype and fake enthusiasm. Message he sends is good though. If you want to listen to original message, listen to his mentor Jim Rohn who is delivering the same story but in a relaxed, clear and gentleman kind of a manner. He is the original after all...

Amazing - motivational, energising and concise

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it was awesome. I was so pumped-up after listening to it in the car. It is concise and does not waffle on, Tony's delivery is powerful and funny. This is what all self-help books should aspire to.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Awaken the Giant Within?

Stop procrastinating and making excuses. Just make a decision and do it.

Which character – as performed by Anthony Robbins – was your favourite?

errr?

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Friggin' amazing. Just listen to it and change your life.

Any additional comments?

Best book in print or listened ever. I may as well cancel my Audible subscription as nothing will beat this. (P.s In the week since I have listened to this, I made the decision to reduce junk in my diet (mainly snacks) and have lost 4 pounds in weight)).

Garbage

Let me sun up this book and save you hours of listening.

According to Tony Robbins all you got to do is decide to change, keep a diary, and never make a decision without taking some action to make that decision happen.

That's basically this book.

The rest of it is fluff about the guy who made Honda cars who never gave up, etc. and other anecdotal stories.

Short but Very Sweet

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. This book is long enough to explain the method but short enough to get you fired up into taking action.

What other book might you compare Awaken the Giant Within to, and why?

This is a short version of alot of the books that I read. Also, Anthony Robbins is very like Jim Rohn when he speaks. He is, however, very much unique and his presentation - in my opinion - is amazing. My mentor.

What about Anthony Robbins’s performance did you like?

His delivery and passion could sell absolutely anything.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

His story about how he cried, believing that his life was worthless - then not too many years later when he arrived at his seminar and thousands of people were fighting to see him. Result!

Any additional comments?

If you want to change your life or any aspect of it - listen to this. It is the shortest self-development audiobook - but the strongest to get you motivated to make more progress and develop a plan to succeed.

couldn't get past first few mins

he's meant to be a master motivator, sadly i find myself disagreeing with alot of his theories. This started of so bad for me, his voice, words and examples. He is passionate but this comes across as shouting. those that shout loudest aren't always right . i had the paperback book for years but never read it, so thought listening to the man himself would help .......

Husky.

This is really short, possibly too short as Anthony Robbins does not have much time to awaken much. He has a husky voice, which I think takes a little getting used to. The narration also feels like a big sell.

I think the actual book might be OK, but it did not leave me feeling inspired as there is not much time to motivate and inspire in just an hour and a half. I need encouraging stories, exciting concepts, new ideas - there isn't too much of this.

Having said this he does well for the time given, but this is not an audiobook that I can highly recommend. A good one for AR fans maybe.
