Das weltweit vorhandene Potenzial reicht viele Male dafür aus, die ganze Erde zu zerstören. Dafür hätte man es nicht derart anzuwachsen lassen brauchen. Atomwaffen dienen der Abschreckung, das weiß man doch schon seit dem Kalten Krieg. Gerade, damit sie nicht verwendet werden müssen, sind es so viele. Es gilt nur, immer ein paar mehr davon zu haben als andere, damit sich erst gar keiner traut.
Kann das funktionieren? Im Ernstfall bräuchte der Angreifende doch nur ein wenig Vorsprung, um auf der anderen Seite alles lahmzulegen. Wenn es überhaupt immer noch nur zwei Seiten gäbe!
